Good Morning Everyone!!

It's a beautiful day to make a positive change in your life! I am embarking on a trip to the grocery store armed with a menu and shopping list of realistic eats! Key word realistic!! I had to find a good balance between what I could realistically live with and what would fit my needs. SOooooo, I am going to follow my doctor's recommendations as follows:
1. For the extra fat only healthy fat such as olive oil, avocado and walnuts.
2. My protein from fish, chicken and occassionally lean, non processed meats.
3. Carbs to be consummed only from vegetables, lower GI fruits (like an apple or grapefruit a day), oatmeal (this is going to take a bit of work as I LOVE the instant Maple & Brown Sugar otameal but it has a lot of sugar so I have to change to plain oatmeal but I'll do it!).

But you know what they biggest thing I have that will make this successful? My desire! I am not doing this because I need to but because I truly want to!

So I will begin steadily and honestly......lol posting my menus/eating each day!

Feel free to tellme what you guys think! Either here or send me a message!! Again any constructive criticism, advice, ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Have a great weekend!!!

Hi Everyone,

Wish I could wrap up the last week in a short reading since I haven't posted in a while but that won't happen so I'll just start with yesterday!

I am still studying, researching, and trying to tweak changes that are best for my personal well being as I am extremely carb and AS sensitive, T2 diabetic, with doctor recommendations for minimizing, adjusting and monitoring other issues with my diet that may affect my health.

Have you ever had someone even in a backwards compliment kind of way make a criticism about your weight? And yet when you try to tell them, without any sarcasm at all, that you are trying to change your eating habits as I say get my health under control not just focused on losing weight they look at you like its an absolute impossibilty? Or if you do stick to your guns they refuse to acknowledge the good strides you are making but make ONE slip, and we're all human nothing is perfect, they badger you, make you feel like a total failure, that nothing you do will concerning your weight will ever be successful and then they can get the 'I told you so' look?

What do you say? Do you defend yourself? Your changes? Point out your successes not focus on the failure? Let it throw you completely off track or start with the very next minute and refocus?

It's hard enough to make sure I do what's best for myself no matter how much I want it but sometimes I want to keep going for the wrong reasons and am afraid that I don't have the true desire to make these changes lifelong!

My doctor has said low carb such as Atkins would be okay for me, but only if keep the protein moderate, minimize saturated fat, maximize healthy fats, make sure carbs come only from mostly vegetables, occasionally low GI fruits and grains such as sprouted bread and otameal. So wow!!! Don't go and make it simple on me......lol.

So any ideas, suggestions or sites/books to research would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!!
