So it's New Year's Eve, and hubby & I will be going to visit friends that throw a party every year. There'll be tons of food & dessert, and I've tried to restrain myself in the past but usually don't succeed. That's okay, as I'm trying to refocus on health & weight loss again. I've kind of had it with making New Year's Resolutions, because they usually revolve around weight loss & I'm clearly not good at achieving/maintaining that sort of thing, but I'll probably try again anyway with the ol' "lose 10 lbs by my birthday" goal (3/20). But I have some other hopes and goals as well. My biggest hope is to move to Hawaii in 2024. We've bought land & are contracting with a building supplier & contractor, so it's in the works, but so much of that will be out of my hands that I can't really make it a "goal." But I do have some goals that are totally within my ability to accomplish:

1. Self-publish my 4th book, hopefully around Valentine's day, and
2. Start teaching some group fitness classes FINALLY!

I've got some certifications for Silver Sneakers Classic and Pilates, plus I'm currently working for the YMCA part-time in Member Services. Not exactly the kind of work I wanted to be doing, but I've talked to the Director & he's on board with me branching into Group Fitness. I just really need to get off my butt & get it done! So as 2023 draws to a close, I log in and see my weight is even heavier than the beginning of the year😒 I thought that retirement would mean better health. I thought I'd be working out 1 hour a day, keep my house spotless, etc. Instead I've just become lazy and it shows. Well, all I can do is TRY to get back on track with those New Year's resolutions and such. Eating better is going to be challenging with grocery prices so high, so I'll need to rely on meal planning & careful shopping. My goal weight is still 141 lbs, which means I need to lose 17 lbs!😲 I have slacked off on exercise, still do it but not every day & certainly not for an hour! But I can do 40 minutes or so, I just need to get back to doing that daily. I'm still kind of lifting weights, I'm up to about 80 lbs on the leg press and 60 lbs on the lat pulldown. But maybe do it more than once a week? Of course, with the holidays the YMCA was closed Christmas Eve & Christmas day, and it will be the same for New Year's. I've still got my tread climber, some dumbells & a Pilates mat, so no excuses there! Still trying to figure out the housework, though....

Anyway, I hope everyone in FatSecret land has a Happy New Year, and may all those resolutions come true!
