Yesterday was my first travel day after starting the diet again. I've made myself some rules, one of which being to enter all of my food before I eat. I did not do that before lunch and it ended up being about 900 calories (airport nachos). After taking breakfast into consideration, I only had about 400 calories left for the day. When I landed, I was tired, plus I'm in Palm Beach so I wanted something nice, and the company pays. Normally I would just give in and go find something good and not worry about it. However, I decided ahi tuna would be high protein and low calorie, and doable. I really like the Ahi tuna at Outback Steakhouse. Then I decided maybe I could have a little steak also. I drove there and went inside, and sat down and started calculating calories. It looked like I could have an Ahi Tuna appetizer with no sauce, half of a 6 ounce sirloin, and broccoli with butter. That's exactly what I did, and did not eat a bite more. When I left the restaurant I was so proud of myself that I was almost giddy. And what a nice change from what usually happens, which is leaving a restaurant and being miserable and feeling disgusted with myself. this was a major when and I'm super proud! (bonus - I have steak leftover for breakfast)

I am SUPER proud of myself.
Day 3, and my first day of travel since starting back on my diet. (I travel for work.) I entered all of my food and realized after lunch that I only had about 450 more calories that I could have today. I planned to have ahi tuna from Outback, but decided that wouldn't be enough and a steak would be good. a plant I had to have a small order of Ahi Tuna and half of a 6 ounce sirloin. when I went in, I entered everything in the calorie counter, including steamed broccoli. I stuck with the plan and did not eat a bite more if steak. Additionally, I didn't have any of the sauce that comes with the tuna.
For the first time, possibly in a year, I made a plan and stuck with it. I was so proud of myself when I left that I was almost giddy. And it occurred to me that usually when I leave a restaurant I'm so disappointed and disgusted with myself. Today was a huge win!

On one hand, I'm really disappointed in myself that I weigh 191 lbs; that's basically what my running average was when I was heavy. Interestingly enough, while I realize I'm fat, I don't think of myself as heavy as I used to be.

I think after I regained the weight, my interest in losing weight was not health-related but more vanity. I'm starting to become increasingly concerned about my health.

One thing that I want to do differently it's to not beat myself up - don't tell myself that I'm disgusting, weak , etc. In keeping with that, I'm also not a victim that needs to eat to reward myself or comfort myself. Also, I don't have to eat everything I can when I'm on location; it will not be my last opportunity to try different cuisine. I'm a professional woman who is relatively successful, and I want to reflect that physically and emotionally.
