A steady weight belies my journey over the past few months! When I get a few free moments (days???) I'll fill in some historical weigh-in's.

I was telling my DH earlier today that I think the essence of my problem is that when I thought I was doing enough to drop those pesky few pounds that took over my body initially (LOL), I really wasn't doing enough at ALL! In reality, it was enough for Maintenance, but not weight loss, so the first pesky few pounds didn't leave.

Then, after several months, when another event happened, a few more pesky pounds came on. And my response was the same.....enough to maintain those extra pounds, but not enough efforts/restrictions to lose them. And so it went....first "just" a couple extra pounds, then maintaining that; then a few more, then maintaining THAT amount; then yet a couple more. And all the while, in between the "gains," I was thinking I was doing enough to lose, and couldn't understand why I was not being successful. The truth was that I was doing enough to MAINTAIN, not enough to LOSE.

Well, I've hopefully learned my lesson on this. Hopefully, I've now got a better handle on what it really takes for me to LOSE versus what I can do to MAINTAIN. No amount of whining about why I'm not losing can make me lose. Reality rears its ugly head and I've got to deal with what WILL actually work, not what I WANT to work.

So, for now at least, I'm back where I was in December 2013 and will continue working my way downward. If all goes well on my current path, I expect to revisit my goal weight by summer's end; this time with every expectation of staying within that 5-pound Maintenance range.

Will be checking in on journals over the next several days, as I know I've missed a lot.
