LOOKING FOR SKINNY ME ~ CHAPTER 1~

The party was over. His 42nd Birthday had come and gone and he knew deep down in his heart that it was time to loose the weight or get the hell off the scales. He’d started the South Beach Diet a couple of weeks ago, but the Friday of the first week was his ninth year anniversary; they went out and had a great dinner and a hell of a lot of margaritas. Then Thursday of the second week was his Birthday and I’m sure he doesn’t want anyone to know of the Hot Fudge Cake he had that day, or the cake and ice cream he had on Friday. However, in the back of his mind he was happy that he had kept up with his gym visits.
He had lost 2 and a half pounds his first week, but the long walk down his short hallway to his scales today, Monday October the 27th, to get his weight for his second week found him looking down over his belly at the same weight he was the week before…216.4. He hadn’t lost a pound for his second week on the diet.
After the third or tenth time resetting the scales and seeing the same numbers, pop up repeatedly, he knew it was time to get with the program.
“Well, at least I didn’t gain,” he said as he slid the scales back under the end table with a little more force than he had meant to.
He went to the kitchen and started a pot of coffee, then grabbed a bottle of water, and then he went in the living room, picked up the remote, turned to a workout station, and picked a 20-minute workout that was done by the woman from Biggest Loser, Julian Michaels.
“I know a 20-minute workout isn’t much, but its better then nothing,” he said as he opened his bottle of water, grabbed up a set of 10-pound weights, and hit play. “Anyway, how hard can this be,” he said as the workout started with some stupid looking arm flapping movement.
30-minutes later, yes 30-minutes not 20, and enough curse words to make a sailor blush, he found himself staggering from the living room blinded by rivers of sweat. He stubbed his toe on the box fan he didn’t see and with a few more curse words he stumbled into the shower to find that he could barely left his arms high enough to wash his hair and that his legs felt like lead.
After his shower and getting his lunch ready he noticed that he wasn't feeling all that bad and that he had a little more pep in his step from not letting the fact that he hadn’t lost any weight keep him from working out and getting refocused…now lets see what the rest of the week has in store.
