I'm a retired business man (68 yo). I didn't eat properly for quite a while. About two years ago a got on the scale and it read 205. I had never weighed that much in my life. However, over the years I watched my weight creep up about 5 lbs per year. I said to my self that's it. I changed my eating habits completely. I gave up refined sugar and fructose. I eat nothing out of a can except sardines and canned tomatoes. My diet is meat, fish, eggs, vegetables and fruit. I eat nothing white... no rice, potatoes, pasta (I miss that), wheat flour. My carb intake is from complex carb sources. As a result I have lost 44 lbs. I no longer have back pain. I completed a marathon. I think most importantly, I no longer have acid reflux. I used to keep a bottle of tums by my bedside and pop three or four in the middle of the night. Not any more. You are what you eat. Eat fresh. Stay away from the processed food. Learn to cook healthy. I joined this group because I want to maintain my good habits and maybe inspire others that fresh food cooked properly can be very tastey, satisfying and healthful.
