Wow, I'm surprised. I started my own verion of the 5:2 diet on April 11th and this was my first weigh in after two weeks & 5 fast days. It's obviously working. My fast days are Mon & Thurs & I've modified the basic 5:2 program to fit better w what works for me. Instead of spreading my calorie alotment out throughout the day, I like to skip food/any calories for an entire 24 hours (if dinner Sunday ends at 7:30, then I don't eat anything until Monday at 7:30), drinking tea, & hot water with lemon only. Then I have my 400 calories, trying to incorporate as much lean protein as possible. Then nothing more til 5:30 the next morning, giving me 34 hours of the recommended 36 hour fast. The thing I miss most on fast days is my am coffee bc I cannot drink the stuff w/o creamer (and I don't want to waste any of the day's 400 calories in something as nutritionally bankrupt at that!). It's surprisingly easy really. My only side effect is that I tend to get chilled easily on fast days and I don't feel as strong if I do my strength workout. Due to the long term health benefits of fasting, I'm seeing this as a permanent lifestyle change & something I'll continue for the long term. A pound is not bad considering how hungry I've been this week and my unfortunate lack of cardio time. I'm going to make up for it with interval workouts first thing each morning this weekend. Taking my son to DC on Tuesday for a few days of history next week, so that will be a bit of a challenge. We'll be on foot a lot, so that will be good activity wise, but the downside will be the lack of REAL exercise time & eating on the go. Going to try to mitigate that by taking pre-measured baggies of Golean cereal for breakfast, & protein bars & fruit for lunches and snacks. May be able to get some treadmill time in the evenings if the gym has a view of the pool. He can swim and I can interval...it'll be a win-win situation! :o) Happy Easter weekend everyone!

Good grief I've been HUNGRY for the past few days. It's a normal monthly thing for me...3 days of FEED ME hit like clockwork. Doing ok-ish and haven't let it get outta control really. Stayed up and watched some TV last night and got a little munch-happy. Peanuts & saltines...really Nicole??? LOL Made me glad I don't do the mindless TV thing very often and that I don't keep crap food in the house. Gonna pump up the protein today to see if that helps. Wish the weather had been better so I could have done more outdoor cardio over the past week, but I've been doing my weights & calisthentics when I can't get out, so hopefully that's been helping a little anyway. Will get outside this afternoon no matter what. The fact that tomorrow is weigh-in day is a GREAT motivator!!

This weekend killed me. I've done great with my exercise and really with the diet too, until this weekend. Went to some friends for dinner Saturday night and splurged a bit in the dessert dept, but did ok overall. Then went to the movies & dinner on Sunday night and lost it. Ate jerkey and a few of everyone else's treats too. Redeemed myself with a sashimi salad for dinner, but then hoovered the remaining sweet potato fries after I finished. Is it wrong to blame it all on PMS? LOL Well I'm not going to, bc I HATE it when people do that! Still, I think I'm going to change my weigh-in day to Friday, that way any weekend transgressions won't hit me so hard! Here's to a healthier today :)

Foofaloof! I have lost NO weight this week despite working out daily and sticking to my diet pretty darn well. I'll be so stinkin' happy if I hit 145 point anything on Monday at the rate I'm going. Still feeling motivated, so forgive the small rant. The exercise log is pushing me to exercise daily and the food log is helping me tweak my diet in a healthier direction. Goodbye fat-filled sunflower seeds for breakfast...parting was such sweet sorrow! Had to get the dang things outta my office so I wouldn't be tempted by them every day! I'm going to portion the rest of the giant bag I have into 1/2 cup treat bags for my son & I to take to his baseball games. I probably have enough to get us thru the whole season. LOL Gonna be cold and rainy here this weekend and cold all next week. That the Groundhog was smoking something this year when he made his prediction is pretty much the general consensus around here these days. Thinking Spring!!
