Ive been writing in my journal since I started my hcg but haven't entered it here. Better do it now...

HCG Program (500 iu’s daily) Start date: 9/28/10

Day 1- Binge Day I am actually looking forward to not have to count calories and eat whatever I want to for two days!
Took the hcg, was expecting it to taste bad but it didn’t. Tasted like a weak tic tac almost. It’s very pleasant surprisingly. Now I just have to wait a while before bfast. I should have drank a glass of water before I took the hcg. Better remember for tomorrow.
Just ate a huge breakfast! Bacon, eggs, toast, hot chocolate….I would have loved to had pancakes but I didn’t have any bisquick. I have to get to my 4000 cals with food at home. I Can’t really afford to eat out every meal for 2 days; that could add up quickly. I’m soooo full I can’t imagine eating everything else I have to eat today.
Oh! I am soooo full and VERY tired. I even took a 3 hour nap! I’ve had multiple helpings of beef stroganoff made with tons of sour cream & 80/20 ground beef. Plus chips and a bunch of other crap all day. I feel icky eating all this fat. I made the mistake of trying to get in a lot of fat & cal’s by eating some cookies & ice cream etc but that had toooo much sugar. So tomorrow I will omit those and add in high calorie something else with lower sugar. After everything I ate and can’t possibly eat anymore I have gotten to 3700 calories. Close enough…will try to get closer to 4000 tomorrow if I can.

Day 2- Binge Day
I woke up with no appetite and I’m still tired. I got on the scale and gained 1 lb from yesterday. I remembered to have a glass of water before my hcg, also brushed my teeth before it too. It’s much better that way.
Well I’m still tired, took an hour nap and feel a bit better. I have been eating and eating lol and my calories just aren’t adding up! For foods that I thought we’re so high in calories, I can’t believe how hard it is to get up to 4000! I thought this would be a breeze. Maybe if I could go out to restaurants and eat burgers, fries, pasta & garlic bread, Mexican food, deserts etc this would be easier lol
Ok end of this awful day, full does not even describe it. I tried so hard to get to 4000 cals but I just didn’t make it. My total was a little less than yesterday but its all I could do so I hope its enough. I’m so ready to start this diet portion and change my life. I wonder if part of this binging could be for psychological reasons because I am so over all this junk which will make it easier to not cheat on the diet. I’m craving nutritious food, food not fattening & full of crap. I’m also tired & so ready for bed.

Day 3-

Today I start the 500 cal diet. I’m not hungry at all yet, just drinking a cup of hot herbal tea then going to take my hcg. I gained 3 lbs since yesterday. So a 4 lb total gain for both binge days. Poo!
Ok end of day 3. I’m not going to list my menu everyday but occasionally I will. Today I ate : (Bfast- Tea & ½ orange) (Lunch-shrimp…pan cooked with garlic salt and cayenne pepper with ½ an orange) (dinner- pan cooked chicken & with garlic salt and cayenne pepper…chopped up with cooked onion & wrapped in a piece of lettuce)(snack : a small apple) My calorie totals today were 480. I had to keep adding a bit of water to the pan when cooking my meat since I can’t use oil or butter. I’m less tired today and have had mild hunger but nothing too bad.

Day 4-
Got on the scale and lost 4.5 lbs since yesterday!! Yeay! So I lost all 4 that I gained from binge days plus another 0.5! That’s so exciting. I did wake up and have been battling a headache all morning. Probably just my body starting to get used to the hcg...or maybe detoxing all the junky food out.
My headache finally went away this afternoon but now it’s getting late and I’m starting to get a bit hungry. Good thing its bedtime so I can sleep it off lol. I had 496 cals today. My main protein sources were beef- (Extra lean-eye of round cut) and chicken breast. Had my apple & orange and then asparagus for my veggie.

Day 5-

Another great loss today! 3.5 lbs since yesterday! I always weigh the same time; 1st thing in the morning after I use the restroom, & nude. I even have tape on the floor marking where my scale goes lol. I feel good so far today!
Ok end of the day. I ate the same as yesterday (yesterday I made extra everything and put it all in tupperware in the fridge so no cooking today or tomorrow yeay) I felt good all day until late this afternoon I started to get another mild headache & I am hungry now that its nighttime. Not necessarily because of the hcg diet…I’ve always battled with night hunger. Also, I’m pretty tired but not as bad as a few days ago.

Day 6-
Lost 2 lbs today…this is so great! I had already lost about 12 lbs on my own before hcg so I know this isn’t just water weight coming off now since I got a lot of water off with that 12 lbs. Woke up with a mild headache.
My meals were the same as the last couple days, I’m just changing up the order in which I eat it. I’m doing ok , headache went away & I have a lot of energy…no tiredness just have the mild night hunger again. Off to bed I go.

Day 7-
Another 2 lbs gone! I started my period today so I hope that doesn’t slow down my weight loss but if it does at least I know why…evil water retention lol. I’m wondering if my night hunger, headaches & tiredness had anything to do with the hcg diet at all…maybe it was all just pre-period blah? I did have some spasms last night in my calves which was weird.
Ok found out that the spasms are not common on the hcg diet but can happen. I just need to drink more water and they will subside. Been having them throughout the morning in my left calf so I’m pounding the water lol. Also found out that on my binge days I should have not only binged on high fat/high cal foods but also some healthy food too. Like bananas so my body would be releasing more potassium and maybe not have the spasms but oh well.
So end of day 7. I didn’t have any red meat today, just 3.5 oz chicken both meals. Also ate asparagus, strawberries, and an apple. 477 calories. I’m not a big red meat eater so I just had the chicken today. I am also getting sick of chicken breast. Not sick of the chicken itself, but the form I guess. I really love ground turkey but can’t have turkey on the hcg diet. Poo! I’m going t research some new food ideas.

Day 8-

Only lost ½ lb today  I shouldn’t be disappointed since it’s still a loss. It’s also my time of the month so I knew this would happen I was just hoping it wouldn’t. So just going to shake it off and move forward. Plus I’ve lost 12.5 lbs in the last 5 days and that’s great!
So it’s the end of day 8, and besides the lower loss this morning…I have felt amazing all day long! Great energy, no hunger, no spasms, no tiredness! I have to force myself to eat because I’m just not hungry. At all. It’s not like a full feeling, it’s different. I’m just…satisfied  484 calories today.

Day 9-

No loss shown today. No matter how much I tell myself it’s just water retention it’s still disappointing.
I’ve noticed I’m more satisfied with a tiny little bit so I’m breaking up my apple into 2 snacks and same thing with my orange. So I’m eating more times during the day but tiny little bits. Same thing with my meals. Eat half then an hour or so later eat the other half. I feel so great all the time. I’m so energetic…not like jittery or wired…just like I am well rested and it lasts all day long. I’m sleeping better too. I had chicken, shrimp, broccoli (unsure if allowed but all I had, hopefully it won’t affect anything), apple & orange. 413 calories. I should have eaten more, but I couldn’t finish some of my food because I was so not hungry.

Day 10-
½ lb loss today, low but better than zero.
End of day 10. My husband is home from Afghanistan today and it’s so amazing to have him home! I was not hungry at all today as usual, but also didn’t have time to force myself to eat in the midst of running around getting everything ready. So I only got in 365 calories. I did go to the deli counter at my health food store & I was able to find some lean chicken breast (no added sugars, oils, fillers etc) and got some of that sliced. Now I can just grab a few ounces of that as my protein instead of having to cook a darn chicken breast that I can barely stomach. I just weighed it, rolled it up and ate it. Yum! Oh, I also found out I have lost 14 inches overall! 5.5 of it in my lower belly! So even with low pound loss the last couple days at least I know I’m losing inches too.

Day 11-
1.5 lbs lost today! Much better lol. And I’m really loving my herbal tea I just bought. It’s the passion tea from Starbucks and is super delicious.
End of day 11 and I cannot get over how incredible I feel. Still lasting energy all day and I’m in a good mood too, like constantly lol. I’ve been missing my ground turkey breast so much, then it dawned on me to just go look in the meat dept to see if they have ground chicken breast. They have ground everything else. So I went and asked the butcher who said no, but he would be happy to grind some for me. So he grabbed some organic, grass fed chicken breasts and voila ground chicken. I cooked it all with some garlic salt & black pepper. Then made some homemade salsa (Just boiled tomatoes, then roasted garlic, onion & Serrano chilies and blended). I put a tablespoon of the salsa over 2.5 oz of ground chicken and it was soooo good. I could eat that meal for days (and probably will hehe). I also cut my apple into wedges, sprinkled cinnamon & baked it @350 for 30 mins. Yummy dessert. 467 calories today.

Day 12-

2.5 lb loss today! Yeay! So that’s 17 lbs since I started the 500 cal/day part of the program (which was 9 days ago)
Today I ate (bfast: ½ orange & 1oz chicken breast slice) (snack: ½ orange) (lunch: 2 oz ground chicken breast w/ 1 tbsp homemade salsa) (snack: ½ apple) (dinner: Same as lunch) (dessert: See below)
So I was told about something new & tried it for dessert. Take a lemon and cut it in half lengthwise. (Put half in fridge & save it for later) Scoop out the lemon so the peel is basically a cup. Pour into the peel/cup some sparkling water and squeeze the lemon you scooped out in there too. Then add a lil stevia. Freeze it for long enough for it to become icy but not frozen solid. Then get a spoon & enjoy. It was so good and refreshing. Perfect treat to end the day. 494 calories total.

Day 13-

0.5 lb gain today  I need to scrutinize everything now. I had bought some chicken breast sliced from the deli…I was told no oils, sugars, fats etc but maybe they were idiots and didn’t know so if I gain again today after eating it I’m going to cut that out to see if it’s my problem.
I felt good all day today. Nothing really to report. Same usual foods eaten and totaled 414 calories.

Day 14-
Still at the same weight, no loss or gain from yesterday. So the culprits may be the deli sliced chicken… or the cream I have to use for an infected cut on my leg, or even the salsa I made. The salsa I made has nothing prohibited but your also not supposed to mix your veggies and salsa is obviously mixed so….I’m going to cut out the salsa and the sliced chicken today. Cream I have to use on my cut so I’m stuck with that. I’m also still on my period but can’t change that either.
Ok I ended up still having a teaspoon of my salsa…couldn’t help it :p So we will see what happens. I went out and bought some Melba toasts & Grissini. I have avoided them to this point but I need to add something else to the mix. I had a grissini with dinner and WOW I’ve been missing out…yummy  My calorie total today is 431.
