Since Christmas Day I have not eaten a whole lot. With the stone it had hurt too much to eat. Monday night after I was admitted to the hospital I ate orange jello, applesauce, and apple juice from the hospital. But anything heavier like the mashed potatoes I love so much and crumb encrusted fish, my stomach cramped at. Then I couldn't eat after midnight Monday because of getting a stint in. Surgery was not until 7 pm and by the time I was fully past the a esthetics it was Wednesday morning. Ate oatmeal with ease, but the omlet again made stomach cramp. By lunch I ate penne pasta with Alfredo and other stuff and did well, and again dinner was fish and I ate it all. My fiancé came by for the first time out of the whole time 30 minutes before visiting hrs closed, bringing me cake and chocolate :) I still have it though. Back to nausea. Went to sleep, and he called and "watched" the ball drop with me. And I will tell ya, a view of north side of city shooting fireworks from 8 floors up was pretty cool! I also was above the helipad :) Thursday brought a great appetite for breakfast, but lunch a was sick again and barely ate, then thre up couple hrs later. Dinner before discharge was grilled cheese.

Happy to say that today I was able to eat steamed veggies and a little bit of spaghetti my fiancé made for me and brought to the motel, the. An hour later I had a Stromboli and a blueberry Greek yogurt with no problems! Have Keflex for antibiotic and Dilaudid for pain. Stint comes out Tuesday. When dr put it in, he saw the stone within access and was able to remove it :) now just to recover!

So even for normal people, kidney stones are nothing to sneeze at. Fibromites? Even worse! I'd rather be in labor all over again! A few years ago I had one in my left kidney that sat for a whole year before it moved and got stuck at the entrance tot the ureter. I had to have the sonic shock treatment for it. It had hurt so bad before that I was in tears and went to E.R. twice in 6 hrs. I've had small stones since that were easy to pass...

Just before thanksgiving I had been at the hospital with a dying relative (COPD) and enough family finally showed up that I could go down to the E.R. Because I figured I had a kidney infection. They treated me like I was only there for something to do cause I was bored. My BP was running 170's over 140's. They didn't give me anything and sent me home with a prescription for Naproxen. Said there was nothing wrong with me!

Christmas morning I woke at 4 am in severe pain, same side. By 6:30 and a Naproxen later, I called the front desk of the motel I had gotten for the holiday and had an ambulance take me in. CT scan showed stones. Gave me dilaudid and sent me home with a prescription for it, but even the generic at $15 was unaffordable for me. Homeless, jobless, no insurance.

I suffered through and then yesterday (Monday the 29th) I went to eat at the shelter. Mind you I had not eaten since Christmas because of the pain. I was waiting in line outside talking to some friends, when I suddenly got dizzy and my vision went black. I sat down, but it didn't help. A friend called 911 and I believe he saved my life! I had gone septic. The last stone got stuck low in the ureter and so the urine is trapped in my right kidney and infected. I'm now admitted to the hospital. Even with no insurance, they did CT on my abdomen, head, and chest, and have done numerous blood works and UAs. Sometime today the Urologist is going to put a stint in to drain the poison urine, and next week he will remove the stone. I can't help but think what would have happened if I had been stubborn and waved away the dizziness as nothing. I would have gone back to my cubby hole 8 miles from the hospital with no transportation. My white blood count was 18.2 and the normal high is 12. I also had a 101.2 fever. Never thought I would thank Fibromyalgia but I am thanking it now. If not for having to learn to not be stubborn about being sick, and having to give in etc, I could be dead from poisoned urine escaping my kidney...
