Well I knew after that spectacular start last week that my body would rebel and hold onto everything this week. I'm just amazed to have recorded any sort of loss so I'll take it. Hopefully things will equalize and the loss will be better in the coming week. I had a cravings crisis twice during the week that I managed to weather, but I have been thinking of adding a 'cheat' day once a week to just eat things I have craved that are not part of my plan. I'm thinking it will forestall any of those massive binges I sometimes wind up going on where I eat every single thing I've been denying myself all at once and for days in a row. Haven't quite decided on that though. I'll think about it this week and see how I do. Perhaps I won't add it as a regular thing, just an occasional one when things start getting rough. Having that day to look forward to might be just the answer to avoiding those times. Hope all are doing well in their endeavors.

Great first week even knowing that a large part of this loss is extra water weight. Hopefully my body doesn't brake back to it's 1 pound a week pace. Hope the damn rain stays away so I can get out of the house for some exercise. Determined to try and maximize my weight loss between now and year end. I have to thank everyone for their words of encouragement over the last 6 months of my dismal ups and downs and large weight gain. It meant a great deal and helped me get up the courage to face yet again another try for the goal. I hope everyone has been having great success. Here's hoping we are all much closer to our goals by the Holidays. For now, I will take it one day at a time. Thank you all again :)

Last year on October 15 I hit a low weight of 195. Since then I have fluctuated up and down, gaining and then never quite losing back all of what I gained. The past several weeks have been the worst. I didn't even weigh myself but just kept forwarding the same weight because I didn't want to face the scale. Today I gathered up my courage to see how I have wasted the past year, and of course the scale was quite happy to tell the awful truth. Instead of getting to the goal of 145 that was so close last year (only 50 pounds), I managed to actually gain 50 pounds. Now I am 100 pounds away from where I should have been. Once again I let various pain and disappointments govern my eating and this is the dismal result. So once again I am picking myself up, dusting myself off and getting back into the foray. This week I shall concentrate on getting my eating back on track. There is no junk food left in the house and I will shop tomorrow for the healthy things I love. My main exercise will be the annual Fall purge of things for donation plus moving of furniture for bug spray. To that I will add some walking each day. Then next week I will work up a real exercise schedule since the pool is not an option in the winter. I am determined to be as close to goal by my birthday in February as I can possibly get. To those of you who are doing well kudos and to those of you who, like me, who have not I share your pain but just start over as I am. As long as you don't give up, there is hope :)

In a holding pattern. Not really weighing this week. Don't want to get too upset. Will put an accurate weight next week.

Well a disappointing loss, but still a loss. I say disappointing only because this ketogenic (low carb) diet was so highly touted and except for the first weeks it seems no different than I was doing previously. The big difference is the severe reduction in carbs. Before I was eating lots of fruits, nuts and veggies and was still well within my calorie limits. I also ate a lot of yogurt. On this diet I was barely having any fruit at all and I so missed my protein shake also. I also lost a lot of what energy I had. So this week I am going to increase my carbs to at least 50 or more. I am adding back in my fruits and yogurt. If I am only going to lose 1 pound a week again then I'm going to do it eating my favorites of fruit and yogurt. Hope everyone is doing well this week.
