10 January 2010

I've been heavy since...forever. I peaked around 225ish in 2005/6...dropped to 199ish when I got married in 2006. Ballooned back up after some apparently decadent holiday season, and have been working on coming back down. Right now I'm at 202, and I've been stable/declining for several months AND this is January 10th, I'm 202 AFTER the holiday season :)

I've been making slow progress, but at work, I've joined some other large ladies and we're competing in The Biggest Loser competition at work. Our goal isn't to win--but more to achieve our own goals of weight loss. :) I'm excited. I have issues exercising...I don't like feeling warm, sweaty, and I have a large chest and sports bras aren't effective. Swimming's my sport of choice, so I've been researching which rec center might be best for me.

I'm a healthy eater in general...lots of fruit & veg, lots of whole grain, moderate fish, minimal meat (that's more since my hubby's thin & moving towards vegetarianism, but I don't mind)...I don't even overeat that much really. But. Boy, do I love my starchy foods: potatoes, breads, rice, and pasta. Mmmm. And I love warm food. (I love raw veggies and things too--but I don't consider that a 'meal'.) It's great fun getting my organic vegetable box twice a month and figuring out what to cook with all of my interesting ingredients! Fortunately, even though I like cookies, pies, and cakes, my sweet tooth isn't huge. I love to bake, will eat a piece of two, then leave the rest until it goes stale, moldy, or hubby eats it haha.

Anyway. Hopefully, a little focused supportive restraint, and some sort of sustainable increase in my activity level will help me continue on my decline. At my heaviest, I was pushing size 20/22. For a large part of my adult life, I considered myself a size 18. Two weeks ago, I bought my first pair of size 12 jeans I can ever remember. They're a bit snug, but I wear them sometimes--including today...I think I'm more of a size 13. Haha. But I'm ecstatic at the idea that I'm legitimately smaller and that clothing stores recognize it as well!

I've written a ton haha. But the 'first' journal entry might be the only one I write! :O

If I lose 1 lb. a week, I'll be 152 this time next year. Blows my mind. :) Wish me luck!
