Hello everyone. I originally joined this site to help track my progress to my healthy weight for my wedding, and I DID! I didn't make it to the ultimate weight but I'm much healthier now.
I Never was the skinny kid really, I use to be a healthy weight though, I was a varsity goal keeper on my high school soccer team. I broke my hand in college and just started gaining weight ever since.
I have several challenges still ahead of me from office junk food, and business travel/dinners.
I want to be healthy so I can be here for my wife and kids as long as possible and in the future hopefully for my grand kids, and hopefully great grand kids and so on. Here's hoping! :)
I started needing to lose over 100 pounds, lost over 80 and then went backwards a bit. If any one has success stories I'd love to here them.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
I intially weighed and logged my weight daily. I then moved to weighing once a week. Now I weigh myself most of the week but only log once a week. Mostly on Wednesdays since it what my average weight for the week would be.

Protien Powder Concerns
Consumer reports site heavey metal problems with protien powders and shakes. i recently bought a couple GCN ones. i was unsure if i realy want to use them, i've been trying to loose weight with out any special shakes or any. (nothing "diet" or artificaly low calorie, not even coke)
what drove me to buy them was that i'm working out and wana make sure i eat enough protien to rebuild. i eat around 50 to 70 grams just by my normal diet but wana kick it up to close to 100-150g without more fat.

should this matter?

Spouse's poor eating habbits
thank you all for your replies. my main concern is that she eats too little overall. some days she maybe eats breakfast and then maybe dinnner if i can get her to eat. lunch gets skipped due to her very active job many times.

Spouse's poor eating habbits
does anyone have suggestoins on motivating your wife to eat right? she does not need to loose weight, but she needs to eat better than she does due to possible complications further down the road. she basicly eats to little i think and eats things that aren't great for her.
it's hard for me to tell her to eat more when i'm eating less and losing weight. she feels she needs to also. though she is not over weight by a normal persons standards she feels she needs to be like other women which are like sticks. (also i think some of the weights they publish as healthy for your hieght are BS)

Good food
Light and Fit yogurt is a staple for me. I buy it at costco it's reasonable price and 80 calories.
other wise i buy alot of broccoli, califlower, asparagus, and the romanine lettace in bulk at costco lasts awhile in my fridge so I buy that alot.

a quick tip for a tasty asparagus dinner look up "good eats roasted asparagus" it's quick easy and tasty!
