How Often Do you weigh yourself?
allinthistogether wrote:
My plan was to weigh as often as I liked (I'm pretty obsessed about the whole thing, actually), but to record only on Sunday mornings. It worked great ... as long as I was *losing.* Once I started gaining, I'd put off recording my weight until I got "back on track" again. I guess that's ok, too ... except that it feeds my denial, especially if the weight gain is gradual. Then, when I start losing again, I don't have a record of my high weight, because I was too embarrassed to record it (and, once I'm losing again, I'm not embarrassed anymore, in fact I want bragging rights!!) No pleasing me at all, huh?!?
I think regular weigh-ins (weekly, maybe, even monthly) are important, at least for me, as a form of reality check. So is the fit of my clothes, and my general sense of well-being. The better the balance of all three, the happier I tend to be, regardless of the actual "number."
I do the same thing, put off weighing till I get back on. I don't want to be chained to the scale but approaching it as simply a scientific tool is better than battling with it. That's my latest attitude about it rather than all the angst.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Since I lost the initial 75 pounds, I have struggled to maintain within 5-15 pounds because I still tend to overeat. Upcoming holidays I hope will not mean another 10 pound gain in one month. I need to try something new. Right now I weigh in once a week because that keeps me true, to a certain point. Sometimes life is so busy. Right now I am where I like to be at 127 and the only way to not gain is to not stuff face at social gatherings...they are my weak point.

Have you noticed this post has 100 pages and 1800 entries ? Most have one page and a few entries. Ever wonder why?
It's an easy question to answer, I guess? I know I've answered it more than once as my circumstances have changed. I now believe weighing in is important for me. If I get obsessed, so be it until I learn anew how to not put so much back on before I stop the overeating.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Keep gaining back same 10 lbs so I've decided to change my ways and start weighing everyday again till I get to my target weight for the 10th time since I lost initial 60 lbs. in 2010. I've tried not to get preoccupied about weighing in or the scale but like some of you, if it keeps me honest about how much I'm eating/overeating then I'll do it. I didn't lose the weight by following the general advice out there but by adapting a plan that worked for me as an individual. Same with this. So, I'm weighing everyday now. It's very helpful in seeing how what and when I eat shows on the scale. Maintenance can be hard but I'm glad to say I've not gained over 10 lbs at a time before I get wiser and lose it. It would be nice to say I can maintain well but haven't mastered that yet. Maybe never will. The constant onslaught around us of food food food is relentlessly tempting. At some point, you just have to learn to ignore it.

Fat vs Thin - what it looks like inside
Those pictures remind me of the PBS special with the doc who showed a liver and how the fat had adhered to it and it was *hard* yellow stuff. He said that it was really that hard. Can you imagine doing surgery through that type of fat stuck to a person's organs?
