Going for a change - just because I can. Changing the way I write, the way I do other things, and hopefully, the way I eat.
Today, I decided that I needed to do something. Not only am I not losing weight, I'm not gaining either. I've always had this problem. It's really hard for me to change my weight either way, which is scary - I feel like I have no control.
So I went online. I already know that I don't have enough protein in my diet, but I found a site that really helped me work things out. It basically explained how to work out how many carbs, fats and proteins (and sub-groups) you should have according to your calorie requirements. 45-65% of your calories should be carbs, 20-35% fats and 10-35% proteins. Already, I had learnt something new.
It even provided the calculations (carbs and proteins are (kcal*%)/4 and fats are (kcal*%)/9) So I set about working out my allowance of each group, on the basis of 55% carbs, 20% fats and 25% proteins.
The first thing I found was I had far too many fats, and not enough carbs or protein.... Saturated fats were especially high :(
So here are my new values:
Calories 1800-1900 (range is easier for me to manage)
Carbohydrates - 248-261g
of which sugars - 45-48g
Protein - 112-119g
Fat - 40-42g
of which saturates - <14g
of which trans - <2g
Salt - <5g
(Salt is gonna be tough for me - but I retain water etc, so loweing salt may help)
I'm not going to be counting forever - just a few weeks to get the idea of what I'm eating... Though it is making me think about what I eat.

I kinda forgot about this place until I got an email reminding me to weigh in :-S. Over this time, my weight has changed very little... Oh well, I'm ready to start again. I believe my problem is that I don't eat enough - so my body is in starvation mode. But trust me, eating for me is so hard. I feel ill after breakfast, so I tend to skip it... I eat a small meal at lunch, and then I eat dinner if I remember or if I'm hungry.. so my food intake is appalling. I also stopped running - big mistake... So not only am I going to try eating more - it's going out for that run each day. Would do morning, but not always practical atm, so mebbe evenings :p
