I have a background in science (PhD in neuroscience) and enjoy reading about metabolic syndrome and nutrition. Several years ago, I discovered I was diabetic from a random glucose reading in the 300s. I have since embarked upon a quest to reverse my diabetes and insulin resistance. I have learned through trial error and study some diet and lifestyle factors that contribute to overall health. I am 40+ pounds lighter now than when I discovered I was diabetic and am fitting into clothes I wore in college back when I was at my thinnest. It feels great! My insulin resistance is stil abnormal and my last A1C test was in the prediabetic range, however I am doing extremely well with a combination of super low carb meat based diet, extended fasting, sunbathing, and exercise. I am confident given time my metabolic issues will resolve.
