Down another pound (almost) this week. That's great, especially since this was Hub's & my birthday celebration week. We went to the coast last Saturday to enjoy the cooler weather & its rocky loveliness. We had our traditional seafood dinner at our favorite restaurant, the Port Hole, in Gold Beach, OR. Then yesterday we celebrated again with our daughters, with lunch at Sizzler, followed by gifts & cake & ice cream at their house. So yes, I'll definitely accept a 1 lb loss, even though as hard as I worked for it I should & would have lost more if not for the splurges. That's all over now, & I'll keep on keepin on with my liquid breakfasts, mostly salad & veggy lunches, & regular low carb & cal dinners per my menu plan that I'm making. I am also determined to start exercycling every week day when I don't go to the Y, to burn more calories for even better weight loss. I still don't want to lose too fast, but 1 or 2 pounds a week would be great. ~ Happy, Skinny Dreams & Wishes, GLAMMER

YAY! Between having liquid diet drinks for breakfast & exercising, I've finally lost a couple more pounds. I would probably have lost a little more but had a big dinner of fried seafood last night. Hubs & I drove to the coast to celebrate both of our birthdays, as we try to do every year. This time on our way we stopped at a Smoke Jumpers museum, located next to our little local airport. The guided tour was very informative & our guide was a retired Smoke Jumper. Smoke Jumpers are specially trained fire fighters who parachute into very hard-to-reach fire areas. Our tour covered three buildings & we learned about how they carefully plan & execute each jump, & about all of the special equipment they use, & many other interesting details about the Smoke Jumpers. There are still Smoke Jumper teams today, all over the world in areas with very steep terrain that makes fire fighting exceptionally difficult, including China & Russia. After the Smoke Jumpers museum we drove on to the coast. US Highway 199 leads through part of the world famous Redwood Forest, & you actually have to drive down into California & cross the border back into Oregon to reach the Oregon coast. Kind of weird, but it is a beautiful trip. We stopped at Harris Beach State Park in Brookings, as we had read online that it was "accessible". Weeell, the only handicapped parking spaces were in an upper lot, then we had to walk down a little hill to the lower parking lot, where there were NO handicapped parking spaces. Go figure! The cement ramp that led down to the beach was a 4-level, zig-zag structure that was fairly flat & easy to walk on using my seated walker, but it was quite a distance. Once on the beach we had to walk about 800 feet (my estimate) to actually get to the water. It was fun though, & great exercise, so I'm very glad I didn't give up which I almost did. After that we went on up to Gold Beach to the Porthole restaurant where we had our lovely seafood meal. I paid for this trip with muscle cramps in my feet & legs all night, so am very tired today, but am also very happy & thankful for our lovely, fun & safe trip full of happy memories. ~ God Bless You, GLAMMER

GGGRRRRRRR! I've been drinking liquid breakfasts every stinkin day, & trying hard to eat right & not cheat, & I gained 1 pound! Go figure! I did my pool therapy at the Y on TUE & THURS too, & my muscles have been quite sore from that, which is largely why I'm so frustrated about the gain. But, I'm not giving up, NO MATTER WHAT!!! Had the monthly shopping trip with DD yesterday. Had lunch at the Vine, Italian restaurant & ordered shrimp with capellini, a very thin spaghetti-like pasta & a lovely tossed green salad. It was delicious, & not too filling. But the bread that came with it was so delicious that I had 3 slices, & I think that was my downfall. It's not that big of a deal, & I guess I shouldn't be frustrated at only 1 lb gain, but I am. I really need to "buckle down" in the next couple of weeks, cuz both my & Hubby's birthdays are coming up. Next SAT we're driving to the coast (about 70 miles away) for our own private annual b-day celebration at the Porthole restaurant in Gold Beach, OR. The owner-manager Tony is so nice, & he knows we come a long way to eat there every year (or more) for a scrumptious fresh seafood dinner. He makes sure we get a nice dockside window seat, & usually free dessert. Jerry's Jet Boat Tours is right next door, so there's always a lot to see. It's a great photo op too, with spectacular views of the beautiful Pacific Ocean & the mouth of the Columbia River. The next SAT is our family b-day party with our DD's & SIL, where of course we'll have cake & ice cream. Knowing this will help me to try very hard to be good the rest of the days, so hopefully at least I won't gain any more weight. That will make me very happy, & if I lose a bit I'll be ecstatic. ~ NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER! ~ With Really Skinny, Healthy, & Well-Behaved (((Hugs))), GLAMMER

I was very good all week, then ate way too much yesterday, & still only gained .4 lbs. Even more evidence that the Atkins shakes are working. I didn't even make it to pool therapy on Thurs because I was sick. Hubby took me out to dinner Wed nite, & I had a seafood burrito at my favorite Mexican restaurant. I'm pretty sure something in the ingredients was slightly tainted, because I didn't eat anything else that could have caused the extreme bloating & stomach distress that I suffered all Wed. night even with taking 2 antacid tabs besides my Zantac prescription that is to prevent indigestion from my pain meds. So I think I'm definitely on the right track, & that the little gain is probably from drinking too much soda because it was so hot, & not enough water to compensate for it. If I behave myself as well this week as I did last week I should lose at least 2 or 3 lbs by next Sun, which will be fantastic as this is just the amount I want to lose per week. Then hopefully I'll continue that loss steadily til I lose 46 more lbs & can have my hip replaced. After that exercising will be much easier & less painful so I can do more, & combined with maintaining my healthy low calorie & low carb eating plan I should reach my final goal weight & be able to maintain it fairly easily. I CAN DO THIS, & YOU CAN TOO! ~ Skinny Hugs, GLAMMER
