I haven't eaten bread or pretty much anything with flour in it for nearly 3 weeks now and I've been making a very conscious effort to eat even "cleaner" than I usually do. I feel much more alert and bright than I did so I think I need to actually eat some bread and see if there's a clear reaction. Not yet though, I just don't fancy it, so why bother?

Had a tough time getting through beer o'clock yesterday without succumbing, but managed it.
All in all a good day.

I'm feeling confident and positive about my weight, fitness and appearance at the moment. I'm sure this stems from being on holiday - currently going into week 6 of our 7-week summer break from school. I've been sunbathing a lot, walking, swimming and eating healthily too. Too much alcohol (a couple of beers, bur every evening) so I'm cutting that out this week prior to my birthday celebration coming up on Sunday. Currently day 3 alcohol-free.
I've come back to fs because I know when I get back to school I'll need the help and support to keep these positive feelings and stay on track. In the past 6 or 8 months I've ballooned back up to 63 kg and now lost it again but I really need to be more controlled and careful through the winter months.
The past month I've been mostly at home and at the beach so I've worn NO make-up at all for 5 weeks. I keep my hair very short and it has been dyed red for a few years but I've been letting the natural grey grow back and with one more haircut (next week?) the red should be all gone. I then have to decide whether to stick with grey and at the moment that's the way I'm leaning. Maybe have a rethink when the summer suntan has faded!
All in all, feeling good at 54 :)

I think I've been away from fatsecret for more than a year and in that time I've gained and lost the 5 or 6 kilos I'm constantly battling with.
I'm back here now so I can record my calorie intake and keep close tabs.

I've taken a couple of days off recording my food intake - a bad idea, I know, but the scale is going up again and I just want to get this weekend out of the way without thinking about calories.
We had our annual Teachers' Day dinner on Friday evening and yesterday I pushed the boat out at home as my daughter is home from İstanbul for the weekend. We had a pasta dish with wine and chocolate fondant soufflés to follow - not exactly diet food!
This morning we had bacon and eggs - a rare treat as we can't normally get pork products but İstanbul supermarkets do cater more for foreigners especially in the more cosmopolitan areas so daughter literally brought home the bacon!
Next week I need to rethink somehow. I'm on 1500 calories a day, fairly active at work and walking for at least an hour a day but this is not enough to get the scales moving and in fact they're going in the wrong direction. I think I need to up the exercise and somehow fit in shorter bursts of activity throughout the day.
I teach between 2 and 5 classes a day and I never sit down while teaching. I make a point of walking around the school several times a day, up and down stairs and along corridors, just to stretch and get a change of scenery. The rest of my school time, though, I'm sitting at my desk, mostly in front of the computer or having meetings.
I usually walk home from school. I walk fast and it takes 40 to 45 minutes so I'd say it's a little under 3 miles, up and downhill, from one side of town to the other.
When I get home I usually do about an hour's housework and prepare a meal then I'm usually sitting through the rest of the evening (an hour or two) before I go to bed.
I think I need to fit in more weight-bearing exercise - maybe 20 minutes morning and evening. This should keep muscle built up and help my metabolism to work harder and for longer.
