Just wanted to give an update on my health.
Back in January I weighed my highest at 355 pounds. I finally had enough and am now determined to find my way down to 200. I stumbled across Water Fasting. I gave it a shot for 2 weeks. Yes that means eating nothing and drinking lots of water. Don't be a nay-sayer on it. Research it, it's not for everyone but it can be done safely. I didn't die or starve or anything. In fact I was mentally proud of myself. I had the will power to do such a thing. In those 2 weeks I watched the pounds fall off. At the end I had gotten down to 328.3 pounds.
I felt happy and positive. Something in me knew I could lose the weight. It can go away. Now a fast like that isn't something to do constantly. They recommend no more than 2 or 3 times a year.
So I needed to do something more. My roommates and best friends are on their own journey and are using an HMR program through their work. They are doing amazing themselves and it's also keeping me motivated (can't be the only one not losing weight after all lol). After several trials of different things to do I've decided on the simple basics. Watch what I eat. No I mean really watch it.
I'm using FatSecret to track everything I'm eating and drinking. I found, charged, and am diligently using my Fitbit again. I set myself a soft goal of keeping my intake at 2000 kcal. The last 2 weeks I have been able to maintain a 1900 kcal average. I don't get upset if I go over so long as I stay close. The reason I don't get upset is because it's still much better than I used to eat. On a non work day my Fitbit tells me I burn 3800 kcal. That's an unactive day. Yesterday with work I burned 5600 kcal.
Now picture my before. I was maintaining an almost 350 pound weight for the longest time. It's when I breached 350 that I needed to change. That was my mental limit. But to maintain that weight with my physically demanding job... I was eating a lot of the wrong things and too much of them as well. I was eating to maintain a 5500 to 6000 kcal average. Ridiculous.
So what am I doing now? I went out back and I shot the bad stuff. Processed stuff is gone, horrible snacks are gone, carbs are minimal and I mean minimal. Vegetables are my main course now. The side dish is my meat. I haven't had rice or potatoes in a long enough time that I can't remember. Pasta is right there with those two. And it doesn't sound as boring as you think. There are tons of seasonings and marinades to keep the flavors changing. Keep things interesting.
So here's where I'm at. I'm eating well. I have a positive outlook on my weight and health goals. And most importantly I'm achieving them.
My current weight as of this morning is 313.7 pounds!
