I am a 31 year old Australian scientist living in the USA. When I moved here in Feb 2013, I weighed 245 lbs. Today I tip the scale at 175 lbs. No gimmicks or crap, I just worked hard for 12 months and kept it going!

Today I am a competitive powerlifter, and love learning about nutrition, strength training methods and working out new recipes and ways to meet my macronutrients.

My goals right now are geared towards recomposition - I am cutting down to 170 lbs, then gaining muscle back up to 181 lbs for the USPA National Powerlifting Meet in July.

Find me on facebook (www.facebook.com/carmentbell) and instagram (@carmentbell), where I sometimes post recipes and meal ideas!

(1) No, you shouldn't be scared - and this is kinda contradictory to what you're saying in (3). You're stressed that your cals are higher than you're used to even though you're losing, yet you are concerned that you might not be adding enough to combat the calorie burn from exercise.

I say that if your body is feeling good, you are losing weight and you have energy to exercise and do the things you want as well as heal up and not feel too beat up from your workouts, then KEEP AT IT. You're doing great!

As far as (2) goes, if you go a little over one day, it isn't the end of the world. If you go a little under one day, once again, not the end of the world. You've lost 93 lbs so far, you've got this! You know the weight loss journey is a marathon and not a sprint. Don't get paralysis by analysis - just keep going Smile

I need to lose 40lbs, and I need some motivation. Anybody in my same boat, want to help one another
I've lost 70lbs in the last 12 months and the best way to go forward is to stay positive and not set yourself up for disappointment!

Slow and steady wins the race. Make small changes and stick with them, then add more.

Exercise is pointless if you're not eating right. Make changes in your diet gradually then gradually add exercise. Don't be afraid to lift weights!

A carb free day here and there never hurt anyone! Be sure to get plenty of protein and healthy fats in.

Weigh yourself the morning after a carb free day. You will weigh in lighter, as carbs hold water and give you a false high reading when you're weighing yourself.

When you make a mistake with your diet, don't fall off the wagon! Just continue on with your diet at the very next meal - one bad meal isn't going to make you fat, the same way one good meal isn't going to make you thin.

Good luck!
