My lifetime habit of eating whatever I want, whenever I want has caught up with me in middle age. My metabolism seems to have slowed down to be on par with pea soup. Losing just a few pounds seems to be a momentous task. Yet, I don't feel quite me in this new, larger body and want to try and work slowly and methodically to get back to my "normal." I'm definitely grieving the loss of my :eat whatever" previous life but feeling myself is worth more to me now. The trick is keeping the seesaw of my feelings on the side of wanting to get back to normalcy and not letting it tip back to I don't care. A battle I have been waging as the pounds have slipped on over the years. The time to conquer this is now before I slip farther down the path of obesity.
