Hello my friends, look who is still alive and kicking! (hint, it's me)

First let me apologize for my prolonged absence. I have a million and one excuses, but in the end the truth is that we have time for what we want to make time for. Being that I was pregnant the dieting site was lowest on my priority list. I do value the friendships I've made here and I hope that you will forgive me for up and vanishing like a fart in the wind, but I have been terribly busy.

Lets rewind to where I left off in September. I had just graduated and received my nursing license. I ended up accepting a job at a busy multi-physician pediatric office. I love, love, LOVE working with children. The docs are great too. Management... not so much. I worked full time all fall and winter long, I'm sure there were a couple holidays mixed in there but quite frankly it is all just a busy blur of pregnant lady exhaustion. They had me working 45+ hours a week, throw in a couple kids and a husband at home and it's a miracle I survived. The pregnancy progressed pretty normally, in March I was written off work because I was starting to develop high blood pressure, and I have a history of pre-eclampsia that we desperately did not want to repeat. My darling son, Bryce Cohen, was born Friday March 31st via cesarean section. 8lb 9oz and 100% gorgeous. Two days after being discharged (on my birthday) I was back to see the doctor due to an infection in my surgical site. He prescribed me oral antibiotics and sent me on my way. The very next day my fever spiked to damn near 105 and I went to the ER. The infection had entered my blood stream (sepsis) and I was admitted. I spent an additional four days in the hospital being monitored and receiving ridiculously high doses of IV antibiotics. I have been home two weeks now with my little man, and I believe I might finally be out of the woods so to speak. A part of my incision is still open and draining, and that is very frustrating.

So with all that whirlwind of madness behind me I've decided I need to get back into this now, while I still have a little time left on maternity leave. 179lbs was my last recorded weight, I'm devastated to admit that it's not even close to where I am now. Jesus I have my work cut out for me. I guess I have lost a lot more before than I need to lose now... So I'm going to try to stay positive about it. Yikes, where to even begin. I guess I begin here, now, with this journal.

I will share a picture of the new addition the next time I check in, right this moment there is a tiny human screaming my name.

I truly have missed the community here and the friends I've made, happy to be back... and alive ;)
