Oh, man...things at work are pretty grim. People are getting laid off, and nobody is very confident about their job security right now. I think I'm actually less concerned about my job than I am about my desire to binge on cake or some other sweet dessert type thing. I've been so good lately, I feel like I'm headed for a binge of epic proportions if I don't eat a little something, but what? Low-fat brownies or some kind of lite thing isn't gonna cut it, I'm afraid. I find myself thinking of the awesome desserts at the Cheesecake Factory, or a giant cream-filled donut, or a hot fudge sundae.....ughhhhhhh, just the thought of it kills me. I think I might have to just do it and watch my portion size, so I don't go totally overboard. I mean, it's ok to live a little, isn't it?

So when I finally got a scale and weighed myself, I was shocked, to say the least. I knew I had put on a few pounds, but I had no idea I was almost breaking the 200 mark! I've never weighed that much before, and it was so depressing. The funny thing is, I've only gone up one size in clothes. I guess because I'm tall, I carry it fairly well, but that doesn't mean I'm happy or comfortable with it at all.
The number on the scale really made me realize that I need to stay focused on eating right and keeping track of what I eat. I am going to get this extra weight off come hell or high water!

I'm off to buy a new digital scale today, since my other one decided to stop working (no, not because I stood on it and broke it). I wasn't able to weigh myself when I started dieting, so I really have no idea how much I actually weigh. I guessed 180, but for all I know, it's more than that. I just know I had to have lost weight this week, because according to my food and exercise logs, I expended a lot more calories than I took in. But I guess we'll find out for sure later when I finally face the music for real...
