Sandy701's Journal, 16 May 2012

My weight HELD this morning - YAY!! Again, it wasn't a fluke yesterday. In fact, I'm less than a half-pound away from the 150 mark....can't wait!!!

In preparation for slightly lower weights, it was time to take the plunge and get some size 10 shorts. My 12's are getting overly comfortable for walking which means they kind of begin to ride down a bit in the back. That's been my indication for dropping a size in the past. I found my favorite style on eBay and scarfed up 5 pair! So, I'd better drop a few more pounds!

I spent a lot of my walk today just thinking back about my "weight timeline," the various points in my life and what I weighed at those times. The first time I was in the 150's (up to about 153/154), was a few years after college. In retrospect, my life was just fine, but at the time, all I could see was how my life and career were NOT turning out the way I had mapped them out for myself. Anyway, I added weight beyond my more typical 130's and was embarrassed that I had gotten "so big" and had very little clothing that fit. I remember buying a very nice dress for work that was a super deal at just $4 on clearance! It was actually just a tad too big but I couldn't afford much more.

It was then that I discovered the book, "Lady Doctor's Diet for Women" or something close to that. I loved it! As I remember, it was a fairly low calorie book but the emphasis was toward the protein side. While low-carbing has actually been around a very, very long time, this book was perhaps one of the earlier books that tentatively ventured into that area for mass consumption. Anyway, following that book and beginning to work out at a gym for about 35-45 minutes 5x/week got the pounds off....I thought forever. Little did I know.

Funny how things change. I thought I was enormous weighing in the 150's and now, I've been one very happy camper weighing in the 150's! I carry myself so differently from when I was over 200. I walk like I'm 130. There's an attitude and carriage that is the real me now....like I'm supposed to be. It's more than just energy and physical ability, it's an entirely different way of approaching and taking on whatever the world brings my way...a different outlook.

You know, I never realized that any of that had changed on my way up to over 200 pounds...it just happened little by little, I guess.

Oh yeah.....walked 3.1 miles this morning AND yesterday too. Dogs along for 1.5 miles both days.

I am really happy for you - you are one sneeze away from 150! I enjoyed your reflections in today's journal. Funny how we don't notice the journey on the way up but fret about it all the way down. BTW - Congrats on scoring those 5 pair of shorts on E-Bay. Bet you'll have no problem fitting into those size 10's.

5 pair? Wow. You know you'll be trading those size 10s in for size 8s soon, right Sandy? 150 is AWESOME. I definitely want to be you one day. CONGRATULATIONS.

Buffy, I lucked out on eBay as my favorite style is a discontinued one. So, sometimes...well, LOTS of times, there are none available. Yesterday, though, I lucked out finding a wholesaler!

I sure hope so, Bren, I sure hope so. Even now, I look at some of my fat clothes and still can't quite comprehend that they FIT me...really well...not all that long ago.

Heather, I think 10 is my "bottom" so to speak - LOL! Even as a mature adult, I don't think I was ever a size 8. I've no doubt you'll find your way to goal yourself....look at how far you've come already!!!
