Geostar1's Journal, 24 January 2008

Hmm... I was really surprised by the scale this morning. I had my work "Holiday Party" last week and kinda cheated with booze and half a piece of cake, followed by completely screwing up my back on sunday. I've been in too much pain / too drugged up on muscle relaxers and cortisone to hit the gym. SO, I was really expecting to have gained a pound - not to have somehow lost a pound. Huh. It's kinda nice to know that my body will forgive mistakes, and it's definitely motivation to keep working.

I have decided to change things up a little with my weight loss goals. Instead of looking at the ultimate goal (which can be extremely overwhelming and difficult to conceptualize) I am going to break things up and set multiple, smaller goals. So, Goal 1 : Lose the weight I have gained since I started dating my boyfriend in July. 20 lbs. I can do this!!!
254.0 lb Lost so far: 6.0 lb.    Still to go: 14.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 1.2 lb a week

It may be a good idea to set smaller goals that are more readily attainable. You seem to be doing great, keep up the good work!

I think setting smaller goals is a good idea for some people. This way you will be able to celebrate the success you have along the way. I always have my "mental" smaller goals.. usually in 10 pound increments. I am thrilled when I go into the next numbers.. like from the 180's into the 170's....etc... I love to see that number change!

You are doing great, staying motivated and optimistic! Way to go, teammate! Let's cross that finish line in six weeks with a whole lot less junk in our trunks! GO RED GO!

Sounds like you did great, so well done. I set myself small goals too as really find that helps to keep me motivated. I'm doing mine in 10lbs increments... 60lbs seemed far too daunting to begin with, so that's made it a bit easier!! Hope you're back is feeling better soon, so that you can get back to normal.
