I was nervous about this weigh-in. I usually weigh in every fortnight, on Monday. I waited until I got back to my home scale because I have been on vacation (went to see the eclipse). I was nervous because, although I tracked anything, I went over by 9472.828859 calories for fortnight of 8/14 through 8/27 of 2017. However, I did do some hiking, walking around 11 miles in McCook, Nebraska and 7.8 miles up to the top of Harney/Black Elk Peak, located in Custer State Park and the high point of South Dakota.

I am a big believer that diet is more important than exercise in losing weight, and that "you can't outrun [or out-hike] your fork." That being said, I was really glad to see a loss on this late weigh-in. I am still on track to meet my goal of 219 pounds by October 1st.

On a side note, as a post script if you will, I would like to say that I have been getting some comments and compliments on my change in appearance, especially from family. I try to laugh it off and say, "I've been working on it." I think it is so very important not to bask complacently in the glow of that kind of praise. The ultimate goal, for me anyway, is to get to a healthy weight and maintain it for so long that people don't comment on my appearance. I want my weight to just be business as usual for me, not a radical departure from the norm.

Lastly, I invested in a fancy new belt from a custom shop. The owner who punched holes in it for me (measuring from the smallest belt hole I currently was using on my old belt) said he would be glad to resize the belt anytime, shortening it and punching new holes, when (not if) I should need it. So yay, for no more wrap around belt. Although I did kind of enjoy cutting chunks of the old one off and hanging them on my wall like a trophy, the new one looks great and is of fine quality.
228.2 lb Lost so far: 102.8 lb.    Still to go: 6.2 lb.    Diet followed poorly.
