Westgal's Journal, 13 December 2007

Oh boy! Just can't seem to get started, and continue to fall into old patterns of behavior. Which is why I still haven't lost any weight. I am happy, however, to get back to an exercise routine, which will help convert some fat to muscle and elevate my metabolism. So maybe without losing any weight, I'll find my pants fit better.

The truth is, I'm not really eating as badly as I used to - the foods I'm eating are better choices, and I have started to eat breakfast faithfully, and exercise every day - but I'm still eating without counting, something I've always resisted. I still have this idea that I should be able to learn to eat without being obsessed with it, and counting everything I eat sure feels like obsession. Add to that a compulsion to eat under certain circumstances (late night movie watching, any table of free food) and you have the weight result you see.

So there you have it - a choice between being obsessive and compulsive - surely a healthier way would involve neither behavior. And although I've said WW is my diet of choice, my real diet of choice would be to eat moderate amounts of healthy food whenever I feel I'm getting hungry, without any obsessive counting and worrying over it, and without any compulsive eating because of some emotional trigger.

I struggle with that too...always wondering how many points the food I want to eat is worth. At one time I switched to the Core plan, but found that to be too lax...gained on that and went back to the original plan. I too am struggling, and just this morning posted that I was about ready to give up...thanks for posting this...I feel better already! :)
