Still recovering from surgery is my not-so-rational excuse for not staying close to my healthy eating plan. Fancy cheese is something I am having trouble avoiding. Here's the scenario - I decide to take a nice, long walk up the canyon. Which leads directly to the fancy food store where I can buy local fruits and vegetables ... as well as a tantalizing array of aged goat cheeses. Sometimes that 6 oz. hunk of cheese has been devoured before I finish walking home. That's 12 points plus a point or two for high fat content.
On one hand, I want to support my local businesses, especially local growers. And I know how important a daily 30-minute walk is to my general health. But all I have to do is pass by that cooler full of cheeses and I'm rationalizing about how I can just have a smidgen now and then - or how my walk makes it OK. It is interesting that a person can hold two completely contradictory ideas simultaneously.
But I've got to stop kidding myself and recognize the seriousness of a healthy diet to my continued use of this body. Thanks to all who are supporting me and struggling with similar issues. Today I will do better!
