Ah, it's good to be back. I may have lost a few pounds, but I can't say it was due to any diligence on my part. I had a femoral hernia operation on Monday, gained about 7 pounds of retained fluids the next day, then spent the last three days at my Mom's house and she eats (and fed me) like a bird (except for the Halloween candy she kept trying to give me). I was too sore to get up and fend for myself, and too worried about getting constipated to eat anything that didn't contain mountains of fiber, so the end result is that today I am lighter and smaller around than last time I weighed.
The best part of my temporary disability is, while I was down, I read "You on a Diet" which has really changed how I view weight loss and healthy eating, and taken a lot of the guilt out of my past inability to stay on a good diet. I now understand how poor diet can actually CAUSE a person to eat more, how lack of willpower is connected to chemical reactions to poor diet and how vital proper diet is to prevent premature AGING. It's one thing to be told you should exercise for 30 minutes a day and avoid sugar and trans fats - it's another thing to understand what happens inside your body when you do. Wow! I highly recommend it to anyone struggling with weight issues.
