My weigh-in today is after eating breakfast and having about a quart of fluid since waking. I have been walking some. Two days ago, after dropping off a package, I went to a park between the store and my home. It was midday and the temperature was higher than in the morning, about 90 F. I walked 10 laps, for 2.5 miles.

I had a negative experience at the park, in that there were some young males using profanity. I've never had a bad experience at that park in the early morning or afternoon. Then it's mostly working people getting in some exercise, or mothers playing with their children in the playground section. I didn't really feel threatened, because there were workmen in the front yard of a nearby house, and there were kids playing next door to the workmen. Still, I sensed a lot of resentment and latent violence in the speech. Despite that, I finished up my remaining laps, 3 or 4, to make 10, and left feeling accomplished.

Yesterday I went to a museum that has outdoor grounds and walked around them with a friend. It's only about 10 minutes from my home and is large, with over 5 miles of walking trails. I would love to go back there and make it part of my regular exercise routine. We walked through some of the outdoor exhibits and then through some wooded trails that were well-maintained but still rather "jungly." I might need to bring some insect repellent when I go back.

Today, I'm working up the wherewithal to go to the library and pick up a couple of books arrived after placing a hold on them. I plan to walk around the perimeter of the library grounds. Once around the perimeter is 1.4 miles. My goal is to make two circuits, or one circuit then three through a smaller portion of the grounds.

I leave to go on a trip in about 10 days. Usually I lose weight while traveling on a road trip, because we often stop and do small excursions throughout the day.

I plan to post at least once before I leave, then after I get back.

Update: I did go for the walk, doing 2 circuits. I'm not one to live and die by the scale, but since I just weighed myself I was curious how much water I lost. I was 3.4 pounds lighter than when I started, so guess I'll be drinking about a 1/2 gallon of water over the next couple of hours! One thing I like about my body is that I handle heat and moderate dehydration okay, so long as I drink soon after exercising.
