GoalOnederLand's Journal, 17 May 2016

Last semester was kind of stressful, and I gained about 20 lbs. I could ill-afford to.

I have more free time this summer, and I'm focusing on being more active, eating reasonably healthfully, and getting below 300 lbs.

I went on a walk this morning at a park near my house. The track is 1/4 mile. I did 7 laps at rather slow 5 or 5 1/2 minute pace, then the eighth at almost 4 miles an hour. It felt a bit exhilarating. Then I did a cool-down lap for 2.25 miles walked total.

I'm 31 now, almost 32. A few years ago, in 2010, I got into the habit of walking on a track that was somewhere between 8-10 laps to the mile. I called it 9, and got myself up to regularly walking 36 laps over 2 months. I would like to get back to that level again over this summer.

I'm keeping a spreadsheet of my walking this year, and this summer. I want to go back to recording my food intake on here, and keeping it at 2500 or 2000 calories a day.

I know that's a lot of food, but at my weight I think I could drop a couple of pounds a week eating 2500 calories and being reasonably active. Just now, I'm considering doing an average of 2250 calories a day, with 15750 for the week, and maybe having some 2000 calorie days with a "cheat day" once a week.

Part of me hates counting calories, but I did buy a small kitchen scale to help with portioning.

Hope to continue posting here!

start by logging all you ingest to see where you are at and that should give you a jumping off point. I keep a scale in my purse for those surprise moments lol
