Finally below my previous Atkins lowest! I broke that 1/2 lb. barrier.

Still going very, very slowly. Good news though; I think I've figured out what was stalling me. I have cut back a bit on the nuts, but I've really cut back on the pepperoni. Of all the things I've been eating lately, that's definitely the one thing that I felt maybe I was over-doing and that I didn't eat in the beginning when I was losing so well.. A serving or two is fine, but some days I'd polish off an entire (it's small!) bag. Well, I realized that one little bag has like 10 servings, each with 13% of the daily recommended allowance of fat.. I think I was just eating too much fat and protein to burn or lose. At least I didn't gain. And truth be told, I binged on a bag of apple cinnamon rice cakes last night and I still lost this morning, lol. And oh yeah, I cheated a little three times last week. One was an unexpected wedding last Sunday and I was mostly good, but had some crackers and cake and a juice. Luckily most of the food was Atkins-friendly and all of it was healthy. Then last Thursday was our friend's birthday and he wanted to go to a fancee! restaurant and I'm sorry, but at a hundred dollars a plate, I'm not going to ask the chef if the food is Atkins-friendly (which it mostly was.. except the deserts;) ). And then at the in-law's house I had a little kinoa last weekend, but not sure if that is anti-Atkins. Pretty sure it is. Okay, so I was bad last week, but usually I'm not.

I also got a long term teaching placement that started this week and I've just been snacking less. Also been getting in more veggies. Still drinking diet soda, but less than two a day and caffeine free and I go for the lower sodium varieties. Still hoping I might reach 250 by Halloween, but that will be a challenge!

I still want to join the gym, but with this job not sure if it's worth the money.. maybe after I settle in I am thinking of riding my bike to work, though, or why we have my in-laws truck going out biking down on the bay.

Quioa is a very high protein grain, and it is actually a seed. I haven't been able to find it on the Atkins website but it has more protein that any other grain and it is a complete protein, unlike most grains and legumes. I believe that it is good for certain stages of Atkins. As for the pepperoni, it may be the salt and preservatives making you gain weight. Having too much salt makes you crave sugar and could throw you off that way. Some preservatives are actually MSG even though they go by different names and MSG actually messes with insulin levels and makes you hungry even when you're not. I think that is why Dr. Atkins says to stay away from processed food. Even I enjoy a little salami, though, from time to time. Moderation is key.
