I've had some health issues lately that needed my attention more than my weight. I haven't been tracking my food, but we haven't gone off the rails either. Hubs is totally committed to avoiding carbs for the most part. He occasionally asks for potatoes with a roast or something, but after that, he throws away leftovers and we don't keep them in the house. He's great about finding recipes with low/no carbs. Anyway, our goal is 8 more pounds by the end of the year AND keep it all off through the holidays.

Speaking of holidays, THEY'RE COMING! Good luck to everyone. You can do it!

Our weight and health issues are usually tied so closely together, but its hard to concentrate on our weight issues when we are dealing with other health issues. You do need to take care of your health. Have you tried mashed cauliflower or turnip or rutabaga instead of mashed potatoes? Or even roasted? I didn't think I would like them but I have come to really lie them. For making mashed I always add cream cheese and regular cheese, but I even did fried turnip chips the other day and they were quite good. I cut them very thin and sprinkled with some spices when thy came out of the fryer. They were much like potato chips. The turnips and rutabagas have the feel of potato chunks in the roasts. I know potatoes are a hard one to give up. I love them. But its awesome your husband is supporting you in this and helping!

It doesn't help that mashed potatoes and gravy is my favorite food of all time! We have done the cauliflower and we really like it, but it's not really the same. It's good, just not the same. Kinda of like spinach is great, but it's not a baked potato! I've had roasted turnips on their own and liked them but didn't think about them for the roast last night. Thank God for new days!
