These plateaus are wearing me out. Seems like when I hit one, I go a couple of days without eating no more than about 500 calories and it kick starts the loss back up. Hey, whatever works and thank goodness for protein shakes.

Have a great day everyone! Just 1 1/2 more days for me and I'll be on vacations. Whoop!!
213.0 lb Lost so far: 54.0 lb.    Still to go: 68.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 1.4 lb a week

Enjoy your vacation :) however when you plateau you still have to eat you cannot go down to 500 calories then your body goes into starvation mode and retains everything

Perhaps it is not the answer, but when I plateau, I don't always cut back. Sometimes I have a day at the top of my RDI of calories then go back down. My theory is that anything that shakes things up can help get your body out of a rut, which is what a plateau is in my mind. :)

500 calories is very low, too low. My daughter is anorexic and it started as a control thing. Switch it up but try to keep to RDI within 200+/-. Do other things. Take extra walks, drink more water, anything but starve yourself. In starvation mode your body retains everything as Rockiesfan stated already. It makes your body build it as fat instead of using the energy. So, use the energy and do some crunches, take that walk, add a spin class, heck dance in your living room. But eat.
