WifeMamaNurse's Journal, 11 February 2024

Today begins my 14 day challenge. My challenge consists of: 30 minutes of jumping each morning, weight lifting 3 times per week, 15 minutes of Irish dance practice at least once a week, 16-18 hr IF on work days, and stretching for flexibility. I've been doing well with eating and IF, but struggling with getting up early to exercise. Working 60 hours a week has been rough and tiring. Also want to take a few moments, at the end of each day, to reflect on how I feel. Hopefully, I will notice a change and this challenge will be the start of a new long term habit. In the past I do well until I "mess up" or have something alter my "new normal" routine. Hopeful this will help me to see how much better I feel and encourage me to continue. Feel free to create your own challenge and join in!

21 days. It takes 21 days to lay down a new neural pathway in the brain. Be patient with yourself if you feel you've slipped, remember the most important part of this journey is keep going...keep your focus on the goal and you'll get there for sure.

Trailingthesun, thanks! This 14 day challenge is just a mini kickstart to give me incentive to continue. I've never tried to do smaller challenges before, always thinking longer is better. Maybe this small challenge will lead to more and more, which will eventually help me stay on track and build new habits. I was doing most of these things last year and got off track. Maybe a quick, attainable 2 week boost can change "what I've always done" into lasting change.

I used to love to dance. Pure joy! One silly twist and my wife forbade me to dance in public ever again.

Yippee, I don't usually dance in public, but it's fun anyway!!
