Asarver's Journal, 18 April 2015

Hey guys...

So I've been doing really poorly in tracking, which has probably led me to doing really poorly when it comes to eating. Last weekend I went to visit a friend, and so there was a lot of eating out and a lot of drinking. The weekend before that I went to visit my parents, and so there was a lot of eating. Andddd I haven't really "recovered".

I just feel no motivation to fill in my food journal / keep track of what I'm eating. I'm tired, emotionally, if that makes sense. I started running again this week, and so I'm still doing my 10+ miles a week (hopefully up to 15+ soon). I just kind of want to get to the point already where my running out weighs how crappy I eat. Though, that shouldn't be an excuse.

I mean, I have "healthy" breakfasts for the most part, and I've started eating almonds (because nuts are supposed to be healthy...right?). I still haven't been eating much fruit or veggies, and I've been eating A LOT of sugar. Like, loads. You wouldn't know, because I've been bad and I haven't been logging my food. (Though, I plan on today being accurate, and you can already see the sugar!!). I want to say I'm proud of myself because it's been almost 4 months without soda, but does that really matter when I'm drinking my chocolate milke twice or sometimes three times a day? Or all that ice cream I'm eating? Or the cookies I made.... YIKES.

Maybe I'll get more on track this week. *HOPEFULLY* I'll get back on track this week.

I hope everyone else is having MUCH MUCH better luck / more motivation than I am this week. :)

Don't worry about it too much - we all have off times. I didn't record at all in February because, like you, I was feeling emotionally exhausted and it was just too much. It's a lifestyle which means there will be ups and downs along the way. Sounds like a lot of fun hanging out with your friend! :)

We all fall off the band wagon from time to time. You have to ENJOY life along the way too. Now that you've had a couple of splurge-weekends, you'll just have to make yourself get back to recording your food & exercise to help get back on a track of healthier choices. Good luck. I know you can do it.

I've been sick so I've fallen into the junky eating too. Unfortunately I haven't been exercising either so I've given myself a double whammy. Recording isn't for everyone, maybe there is another way that you can keep yourself on track, like keep a planner and put a sticker in for every serving of fruits and veggies you get each day and shoot for 5 stars. For me when I eat more fruits and veggies I tend to eat less junk because I'm eating the good stuff for snacks instead of the junk. I usually record everything in the morning so that I'm done for the day. I'll have the occassional change up in meals or snacks, but I can record that later when I have time. Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to record at a time when you know you'll have time. You can do this!!

Thank you guys for the encouragement! :) I feel like I'm getting back on track, though it's been a little bumpy. ;p @mars2kids, the recording everything in the morning is such a great idea. I used to do that, and it worked wonderfully, but my husband and I have been really sporadic on food lately (we REALLY need to go shopping) because I'm looking for work, and moving, etc. haha :) But as soon as we go shopping, I'll be doing that again!
