Today is Day 3 of my Daniel Fast.

I have debated with myself whether I am going to post about this fast are not. Mainly, because it is a fast and not a diet. I don't intend to maintain this as a way of eating. It's about prayer, not weight loss.

Posting has won because I need to express how I am feeling to people who know me better? Wow, that's so strange, but as far as health goes I feel like you all know me better than some of my friends.

Let's start with my weight. I went into Christmas at 187 pounds and came back at 196. I proceeded to loose a pound each day as I settled back into my own cooking with tons of yummy vegetables, and all of the holiday waste started to pass. My last weigh in was the morning of 01/03/15 at 193, but I passed more than a little bit later in the morning. My estimated weight is 190 right now and it will be the last that I weigh myself until 01/25/15.

I don't want weight loss to be the driving reason for my fast.

The first day was strange. I don't think I was ready mentally. I suddenly wanted just one more day to have a pizza and a burger and wings and an omelette! Instead, I had my normal weekday breakfast which is oatmeal with raisins. I went to a brunch date at noon (so that was more like lunch, right?!) and had a tofu scramble that was freaking delicious! It was exactly a portion, and I really wanted to be stuffed with it. That was my struggle on Day 1, a desire to be stuffed.

Yesterday, was the caffeine withdrawal. What started out as a mild, almost non-existent, headache progressed with the day into a rager. Too bad I rode my bike in today. It was one of those headaches where movement made it worse. Then there was the train. The train + headache = nausea and headache. I ended up going to bed at 730!

Today, my mind feels clear. No headache! I've checked in with my dad to see how he is doing. He is doing this with me. I let him know that just because this fast is vegan, he doesn't need to starve himself. I'm sure he knows that, but just in case. If you're hungry, eat, eat more veggies!

So far, snack time is the hardest time of day. That time between 230 and 430 when things get boring, slow, everyone else is leaving, and you just need that little push towards the end of the day. I usually want a treat, not a fruit. Yesterday, was hard. I might be back today if I get overwhelmed with urges again.

Onward!
190.0 lb Lost so far: 12.0 lb.    Still to go: 15.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I've done the Daniel Fast myself...and for spiritual reasons as well. It's tough, but WAY better than a pure Water & Oxygen fast. :-) Question...how tall are you? Just curious. I read your profile and it said that you feel "sexier and stronger" the *more* weight you gain. Are you adjust towards feeling sexier/stronger with LOSING weight? ...just trying to understand where you're coming from. Anyhow... You seem to be on the right track with your diet (ie. cooking vs. eating garbage fast food, etc). I hope to see you 1/25/15 at 174 or below. :-D

Hi @alowe82, I am 5'6", and I do believe that I am adjusting to feeling sexier/stronger as I lose weight. Still, it remains consistent that the days I look in the mirror and think I see a svelte body are the times when I've put on pounds. I've learned to embrace the "lumpy" days....today is a Lumpy Day. So Yay! I kind of hope to see the 170s too. I'm scared to hope to hard! :) Hi @snezica, thank you!
