It's Monday November 17th, 2014 C.E. It's approximately Noon in the Western Hemisphere (in my timezone it is). I had a great weekend for the following reasons. 1. My deadlifts are 325lbs for 1 set of 5. 2. My weight is at 229lbs. 3. We took care of my mother-in-law (she is suffering from Alzheimer's disease) 4. We ate very wholesome food. On point number 2 why this is important. The lower my weight the less my max deadlift has to be. The standard is 1.5x 2x your body weight. See how that works? I'm aiming for 450lbs for 1 set of 5 which is a non-competitive lift. When I get to a lower weight (which I will) I may have to lower that number :-) On point 3. We are able to do this (barely) but it's certainly a look into the future if we don't do the maximum to take care of ourselves. Alzheimer's disease has now been labeled 'Diabetes of the brain'. I think that gives us all an idea of what we need to do. Can't out work a bad diet. I'll be doing at least three walks today while at the office and use that as recovery from the heavy lifting this weekend. Tomorrow I shall do some medium work and start getting ready for the weekend. As I go along I'll introduce my 'girlfriend' to you all (wife approved). 'Barbie' has been with me for quite a while. She's a bit rusty now, I think I'm going to (sorry to say) have to replace her with a new barbell. Vulcan barbells are attractive to me. So I'm looking into that. I really like the journaling feature of this site even more than logging my food. The proof will be in the pudding or body fat measurements (not so much the scale).
