Can I lose 20 pounds in 10 days if I try really hard?

Maybe some water weight, but you'd have to burn 7000 calories per day to actually lose fat. They only way you'd burn that many is by doing a century (100 mile) bike race every day.

Oh my....that's a lot of calories to burn. I only eat once a day when I'm on a diet. I'd have to spend the whole day in the gym to do a 100-mile bike race. @doggiepuke

Eating once a day will slow your metabolism. There was a show on The Learning Channel. A woman so large she couldn't walk or get out of bed. The doctor found out she was eating once a day. She gained all that weight because she only ate once. He made her eat 3 low calorie meals. She lost very well but gave up.

What do you do when the diet is over? How many times a day do you eat then? Do you end your diet and start eating fast food? You are never "on" a diet. You would be best to approach this by setting up a dietary path that you can live with and stay with it forever. Yoyo-ing with on and off of diets is worse for your body than slowly adjusting to a consistent plan and staying with it. If your goal is a lower number of a scale and not general better overall health, you can just starve until you get to that number. I don't know what you'll do after, though. 1800 calories a day of low carb and high fiber combined with 45 minutes of exercise will get the results you want in about 10 weeks. Losing 2 pounds a week is taxing your body pretty hard. Nice and easy and I have every confidence you an do this!! The next thing you know you'll be telling us you hit your 20 pound goal!!

When I was younger, I could walk on the treadmill 45 minutes every day, eat sensibly and skip dessert and I would lose a pound a day. When my treadmill died, I began riding my stationary bike for 45 minutes a day. When I sold the bike for cash, that is when my weight started to increase. You have to exercise to burn more calories than the calories you eat and drink.
