HeatherAnnB's Journal, 23 June 2014

So I've been eating normally for the past few weeks, and I have not gained any weight back, which is amazing! I usually weigh between 228-231, which is awesome since I weighed around 243-246 just a couple months ago! Since I did Whole30, I have learned how grains and dairy affect my body, and it's not so nice. It's mostly just bloating and upset stomach that I notice, but who knows what else it's doing to me?!

The thing is, I still have a long way to go. I feel much better at this weight than I did a few months ago, but I know that the more I lose, the better I will feel. I still have my umbilical hernia and also problems with my monthly cycle, so I want to lose more weight in case I need surgery someday. I've been avoiding the doctor until I lose weight because I know that the larger I am, the more likely there will be complications.

My sister-in-law is visiting in 3-5 weeks and this has given me renewed motivation to lose some more weight. If I followed a strict Whole30 plan I could probably reach 220 by the time she gets here. However, I want to try a modified version. I need to learn how to turn what I learned from Whole30 into a sustainable way of life for me, and Whole30 is just too strict to follow all year long.

Here is my idea. For the next 4 weeks, I will eat mostly Whole30 from M-F. I will allow myself coffee and tea with milk and sugar since I only drink 1-2 a day. I will also allow myself to eat corn, white potatoes, and different fats which aren't allowed on Whole30. I won't worry about what's in my meat (ex. I won't worry about BBQ sauce on ribs or breading on fish). I will try to stick to 3 meals a day. If we get summer company during the week, then I will allow myself to venture off the program (ex. I won't turn down pie if someone brings it). I think if I follow mostly Whole30 for 5-7 days a week then I should lose a couple pounds, but I won't really know unless I try. If this doesn't work for me, then I will plan to follow a strict Whole30 again for 30 days (or even one week a month - we'll see).
228.0 lb Lost so far: 15.0 lb.    Still to go: 53.0 lb.    Diet followed N/A.
gaining 0.2 lb a week
