Okay, I'm back from my trip to Garmisch. The plan was to stick as closely as possible to being primal, but that didn't go to well. Hiking all day on both days, I just wanted to eat...a lot...of everything, especially since I was feeling a bit off from the altitude on the second day. You'd think that buffets in the evening would also make it a lot easier to stay on track... but in my mind, I just wanted a little of this and a little of that, which turned into 2 desserts at the end, you know, the super rich cakey kind... As a result, I've regained some weight again.

One thing I've been noticing over the past few months is, that I'm not really that much heavier than maybe a year ago, but when I look at pictures of myself or look in the mirror, my body seems puffier for some odd reason, which is bugging the heck out of me. Maybe it's all this on-again, off-again way of eating, or stress, or...

Nevertheless, vacation was fun & I can't change what I ate the past few days. All I can do is worry about right now. I've been on plan all day today (on my day off, imagine that!!!) and am feeling well. I borrowed Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking a few days ago from the library and am trying to fine-tune my cooking skills a bit. This morning (you could call it brunch) I made scrambled eggs & bacon. Not that I don't know how to make scrambled eggs, but I wanted to try it her way, just for kicks. The eggs came out a bit, hmmm, gel-like??? Maybe I cooked them waaaay too slow. But the flavor was really yummy! I'll try again tomorrow. Between meals I ate a handful of pecans to hold me over, and for dinner we threw some pork steaks on the grill. Julia, once again, told me how to make the sauce for the coleslaw (used some cream instead of sour cream) and I made some wonderful buttered green beans to go with it. Dinner was very filling and I saved some leftovers for tomorrow's lunch - yep back to work it is...

I'm looking forward to the "Staying Primal / LC in the Weekend Danger Zone" Challenge. The plan is to make it primal through the weekend by making healthier choices and planning in activities to go out and have some fun instead of focusing too much on food. Today I already went out for a walk in my cool pink Vibram Five Fingers for the first time. A few of my German neighbors' kids were curious about my shoes, and I just told them that they are my gorilla feet. They liked that...lol

Okay, enough writing for today. Plan for tomorrow is to make some eggs again and maybe some bacon with a couple of veggies. Lunch will be tonight's leftovers and dinner could be baked chicken with veggies. I'll see what's available at our store tomorrow after work.

Night,night,
Nickie
