BlackButterfly615's Journal, 01 July 2009

This morning, I had a long conversation (and cry) with my aunt, whose the reason I believe that all aunties should have a special place in heaven. She helped me come to terms with some things, especially the alienation between my mother and I (she's my mother's big sister, so technically, she's known her longer). She gave me perspective concerning wayward offspring, and fulfilling God's purpose in my life, while praying for protection for his. It truly was the conversation that I should have been having with my own mother. (I believe that the sisters were switched at my birth, or something, because I'm more like my aunt, and she's my hero). That aside, I could freely express my feelings, and at the end of the conversation, feel as if I'd been heard.

I always think aunties are way cooler than parents and I always want to be an aunt--and havent thought of being a parent! lol! But seriously, to be fair to your mom, she has the harder job of being responsible for you..and sometimes our parents take that job too seriously and forget the fun part, and sometimes forget to LISTEN to us..so, i'm glad you have a cool aunt who really GETS you...and a mom who LOVES you! :) I am glad your day was good with TLC! :)

oops! I apologize for my comment above..it seems so light after what I just read about what you're dealing with your parents and your son...I didn't mean to minimize your situation or condone your parents' actions...I don't think they should be enablers at all...

That's cool, I know what you intended. And you're right about her taking her job too seriously and not listening to ME. Deep downl I'm sure that she thinks that she means well, perhaps she's trying to be there for the both of us, I'm not sure. I know that she loves me, but I think that perhaps she's trying to spare me what she went through with my brother. It's like she's trying to put a band-aid on a broken dam.
