Trying to weigh everything. How many oz or lbs of carbs in a day? Anyone know how to calculate it??

Food scale? I wish you all the best. I used to love (and snack on) breads. Lately, I can do without but rice, pastas and potatoes are such easy meal staples. One thing at a time. Maybe just try cutting out one and keep going from there. Little by little.

What works for me is trying to follow a specific ratio of protein, carbs and fat every day. I remember reading about a plan called IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) where you decide how much of each kind of food you want to eat. Here on FS I think I have it set to 50% carbs, 30% fat and 20% protein. So if you want to have half a baked potato you can see how many grams of carbs it has and figure out if you have room in your budget for it.

I used this calculator which factors in your age, exercise level and weight loss goals to give protein carb and fat ratios for various types of plans (high protein — keto, low carb, low fat etc.) https://www.calculator.net/macro-calculator.html

To calculate how many carbs you want to eat in a day, you take your daily calorie goal and multiply whatever percent your goal is for carbs. So, if your calorie goal is 1500 calories and you want to eat 40% in carbs, your goal would be 600 calories from carbs a day. Since each carb equals 4 calories, your goal would be 150 grams of carbs a day.
