Just be careful. If women eat less than 1200 calories too much it may make your body think you are starving and it will hold onto every ounce. Occasionally eat more to reset your system.

Eat more often and it will speed up metabolism. Eating at this low of a calorie will help encourage an eating disorder. Look on thumbtack for a someone to help you with nutrition. Please be carful. It took me years to recover from a eating disorder. I am finally free from it and keep on my food and work out education to stay healthy

Thank you for your concern, Isa, however, I am under a doctor's care. I was eating 1600 calories per day and losing at a rate of only .5 pounds per week. With 100 pounds to lose, that is not fast enough. My doctor said that because I am sedentary and my joints cannot yet handle exercise, I must lower my caloric intake to lose the weight or it will take me 5 years to lose it. It's more dangerous for me to be this heavy for 5 years. Twice a week, I'm eating 1400 calories per day. The weight is coming off. Additionally, I am not likely to get an eating disorder since I am active in Overeaters Anonymous which encourages honesty and sharing about weight obsession, dieting and starving. I'm glad that there are so many caring people here.

Dang it. There's a desk work calorie setting on here? Have to track it tomorrow I suppose. My rowing machine is waiting for me. I can hear it calling. I want to ignore it, but I know I can't. Not today. Not after 'that'!

Lucky you...my doctor told me when I got close to the 250 lb mark that I had lost enough to start exercising. Gone was the excuse that I was too big to put that much strain on my body. So I have opted to start cross country skiing. Lots of calories burned with what seems like minimal effort.

I have a very weak right ankle and left knee that he has treated me for in the past, hence the need to lose more weight (20-30 lbs) before I can do much more than light walking. But when folding laundry for an hour makes you break a sweat, you've got to wonder about how strenuously you're folding those towels! Haha!

A good aerobic exercise if you can't do any lower body stuff is boxing. You can just sit and do punches. It gets your heart rate up and won't stress your ankle.

That's great advice. Thank you for that tip! I will try it.
