Bunnyhall's Journal, 18 January 2014

Ok now I got food in the house so I should be going up a little bit. But summer is coming so I'm doing some dreaded cardio. Hopefully I can get to be able to run 30 mins straight with in 6 weeks. Wish me luck and Everyone else keep up the good work.

Thanks Bunnyhall! Yeah, with the running, I think that's pretty doable. Run slowly to develop the endurance. Once you achieve to the time you desire, you can start running faster progressively in your next runs. ;)

Nah i'm not going for speed, but endurance. I need to be able to run 1.5 miles within a certain time. but i always get winded and can't keep going.

Oh you are running a specific distance. I thought you were only trying to run for a certain time straight regardless of speed. Be progressive. It's normal to be winded at the first tries. If you can, slow down even more. You will develop your aerobic capacity and it will become much easier. My first serious run ever was like 15 minutes. I then progressively advanced to more than 1.5 hours straight and, now, after some years, if I try to run, I won't even be able to hold 10 minutes at my first try lol. With each passing day you will be able to cover more distance and you will eventually be able to do it in your desired time. At my age (33), I would wait at least one day between sessions, provided that the effort was reasonable. But you probably have different recovery times since you're younger. :) If you notice you are not advancing that's probably due to not enough recovery. 1.5 miles is almost exactly my biggest jog distance in more recent years. I remember that it would take me like 3 or 4 runs (after not running for a long time) to be able to complete the distance (at slow speed). You will probably be faster because you're younger. You'll do fine! Just be progressive and respect recovery times :)
