So, eating is nice...

Weekly 36-hour fast number 13 complete. This one was actually 48 hours, my longest so far — a little extra push to end the holidays and kick off a hopeful and healthful new year.

I started it a day early, mistaking Friday for Saturday because of the holiday and because time as we once knew it seems to no longer exist, in this pandemic.

Anyway, I'm happy to be back on track after Christmas. Given that I've set a pound a week as a loose minimum weight-loss goal, and two weeks ago after my previous fast (I skipped one in between) I weighed 1.8 lb more than I do now, I can say that I limited my holiday weight gain to 0.2 lb. I'll take it!

:-p
181.0 lb Lost so far: 19.2 lb.    Still to go: 6.0 lb.    Diet followed N/A.
losing 19.6 lb a week

WTG Phroggy. I'm amazed at your fasts. Best I've ever done is 24hrs. Awesome job!

Thanks Jo! I've certainly been grateful for the results. The 48-hour fast wasn't easy, but for me personally, fasting in general has taken less commitment than measuring and recording my food did the last time I lost weight, even though calorie counting and macro tracking was what brought me to FatSecret in the first place, and it gave me a lot of insight into what I was eating. I hope what they say about the extra benefits of fasting is true, but for me at this point it's simply a weight-loss and maintenance strategy that I can actually see myself sustaining over time, to be used when I need it. I could see myself doing a 36-hour fast every couple of weeks, forever, if warranted, once I reach my target weight.

Liv, I've become a convert, and based on my personal experience I encourage everyone who's curious to give it a try.

I typically do a 16-8 IF, but have switched it up since last week to 18-6. Husband has to have a mid-morning nibble while waiting for our first meal. He's on what I'd call very dirty keto, lol.

That's really good. I guess I do about 14-10 most days, but my "rule" (which I sometimes break) is a minimum of 12-12, simply to limit snacking calories, though I do also believe in the hormonal benefits of longer daily fasting windows. But I'm always amazed by people not eating breakfast. If I ever squeeze my 10ish eating hours into less, it's by eating supper earlier instead of skipping breakfast. I love getting protein in early in the day, and I find it easier to hold off on eating later on, knowing the day will be over soon enough. (Dirty keto sounds like my kind of keto!)

I've never been a breakfast person, except as a child and the sugar-filled cereals, lol. I'm a brunch kinda gal. Mind you, the earlier I wake up, the earlier my stomach growls. So when I have an early day, I need MCT oil, or butter, to hold off for food. He can still eat carbs and lose weight... peeeeeves me off, lol.

It's amazing what we could get away with eating as kids! And I can relate to the significant-other diet experience — my partner is still breastfeeding and can eat anything at all with no consequences!
