Here I am again. What is this, try #4 this year? I was doing a great job a few months ago when I did my 3 day a week diet, but then this summer threw a whole lot of unexpected surprises at me so my new diet got thrown way off course. I have obviously started putting the weight back on.

My hubby, on the other hand, has lost a ton of weight this summer and he's getting compliments from everyone who looks at him. He changed 2 things. 1. He's drinking a boat load of water, and 2. he's not eating so many bread, butter, and peanut butter sandwiches (although he still eats lots of peanut butter). He attributes his weight loss to drinking all that water, and as long he's not sick or something, then clearly it's working.

I tried the water diet once this summer but I found it didn't work for me. The most I drank in a day was 7 cups. My hubby says to force it down anyway (he can drink 5 or 6 cups at a time!). Well, I'm coming back to give it another shot. I still read so many good things about drinking enough water (for example, if you have to lose 100 pounds, 57 of those pounds is JUST WATER!) So, I did some more research, and after consulting numerous resources, I concluded that I need 14 cups of water per day, and it's better to sip all day long rather than flood your system so that the water has time to absorb into your body. At first I thought that 14 cups sounded like way too much, but in reality, it works out to 1 cup of water per waking hour. Of course, I don't plan on giving up on my coffee and tea so that will contribute to my liquid intake.

All that being said, my new goal is to drink 10-14 cups of water per day. So, it's back to keeping track of what I'm consuming, only this time it will be easier (to count cups of water than to count calories), and I should feel full rather than starving.
