I have definitely been failing at remembering to record everyday. I need to find a system to get me back in the habit of doing so.

On the other hand, even though I haven't been on here I've still been doing pretty well. I had been bouncing around at 182 or so since my last weigh in on August 28th, but I've pushed though it and I'm down to 178.8. I was starting to feel like I would be stuck there for eternity. I've had my fair share of times that I've strayed from my diet, but if I was grading myself on my diet, I'd give myself an 85%

I have 2 friends that I have started... training I guess you would call it. I think they just needed someone to push them into getting started everyday, which I'm fine with. I am sincerely doing everything I can to help them drop some weight. They are sisters and their whole family has been big their whole lives. Well the oldest ones doctor is wanting her to get a gastric bypass and she doesn't want to resort to that. Anyway, I meet up with them after my nightly run and do a little jog/walk with them. We started 3 days ago and right now they can slowly jog 2 minutes at a time. I'm nervous about the older sister because she is at risk for a stroke and I'm afraid if I push her too hard she might have one. Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this?

First of all, I'm so glad you're back!! I'm so glad you were able to push past your plateau, and I think it's great you want to help out your friends :) Let me ask you this, are they on any special sort of diet? Also, how much weight do they have to lose? Sometimes, if people are really overweight, they can start dropping weight just by eating healthy and going on 30 minute walks. That way, she can lose some weight without being at risk for a stroke, and then the other sister and you can go on a quick jog after you walk with the eldest? When the eldest has dropped some weight (and is hopefully at a lower risk for stroke), then she can join you guys for a jog! I really think you're smart in not wanting to push her too hard though, strokes are nothing to mess around with!

Hi hokie, thank you! i appreciate the kind words. :) She's about 285. Come to find out she went to the doctors last week and her metabolism is almost nonexistent. The got her on some meds and she's lost 6 pounds already. She has a middle of the road diet. Not bad, but not really fantastic either. But she does do a LOT of walking already.

Gotcha! Well, it's no good that her metabolism is nonexistent, though I think the best course of action is to boost her metabolism so that she can get off of those meds! Since she already does a lot of walking (I'm assuming like 8000-10000 steps a day since you said A LOT), then I think you're right in that she either needs to start walking faster or start slow jogging to get her heart rate up :) I wish them the best of luck though!
