wolfsage's Journal, 28 March 2013

Well, it's time for the reckoning. I have gained close to 20 lbs since prior to xmas holidays. It's ridiculous, 20 lbs in 3 months!! I could analyze what it is I have been doing wrong, although I'm not sure how productive that is. Rather, I should focus on what I can do better for the future.

I need to make a solid plan, summer is coming and I want to be comfortable in my skin. I am looking at a lot of body positive blogs and it makes me realise that I am NOT going to be ashamed of my body, I'm going to enjoy my body. I want my body to be healthier, that's why I need to lose weight. But not because there's anything wrong with my body, but because I want to reward my body for carrying me through this life.

My only success with losing weight has been going fully structured diet with a small amount of exercise. My body responds fairly well to dieting, but not exercise alone (as I have learned) and I believe that the exercise boosts my metabolism so that the diet helps more.

The main aspects of the diet I need to get back to are:
- no processed carbohydrates (breads, mainly) but substitute sprouted grain bread (1 slice per meal only twice per day max), wraps, and gluten-free bread products (though they are too expensive for me now)
- no sugar - this is the hardest part, because sugar substitutes are also quite unhealthy. stevia is the only good one, or else getting your sugar fix from whole fruits or sweet veggies such as raspberries, apples, sweet potatoes, etc.
- tons of water, green tea, and no alcohol (though when i lost weight, i was drinking a couple of bud light limes a night, but that's no good!)
- lots of protein - caveat, i am cutting down a LOT on my meat intake, though not entirely, and need to get more protein from other sources such as beans, chickpeas, tofu, quinoa, etc.
- healthy carbs - vegetables, a TON of them. literally stuff your face with vegetables. and fruit, but more vegetables.
- healthy fats - cocounut oil and organic butter, no margarine or canola oil! olive oil for cooler cooking.

I can do it!! I need to start today! Today is the first day, I will not put it off any longer!

180.0 lb Lost so far: 25.0 lb.    Still to go: 25.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.
gaining 1.9 lb a week
