The last few days I have procrastinated in recording my food intake. Mentally I tell myself that, "Oh it isn't going to kill me to skip logging my meal." Yet, by nighttime, I am stressing about not making that entry and I succumb to my subconscious saying, "You know what you need to do and your only hurting yourself in the end." Ugh.. the brain never stops, lol. Last night I didn't want to record because I was sure I was going to end up 2 pounds up and feeling miserable at the results. Who eats a whole slice of black tie cheesecake from Olive Garden, drinks a large caramel, with extra caramel syrup iceed coffee and doesn't gain. Well shame on me, I was stressed about it so much and feeling awful for taking in that much junk even if it was for my Mom's birthday. But, I ended losing instead. I so don't understand my body anymore at all.

Same here. Baffled by the loss that follows high intake but gain that follows low. None of it makes sense.

It completely baffles me unless when we calorie restrict or take in fewer calories for a few days, our bodies hold those in thinking we are going to starve it.. then we over indulge and the body say yay, let's burn.

Yeah. I commented on someone else's journal about this same irony. It's as if our metabolic angels are trying to discourage us not to limit our nutrition.

Yup! I have since stopped tracking but started tracking in SparkPeople app which allows you to download your tracking as a full dataset. Surprisingly my trend line was that as my calories increased, my weight decreased. I did not look at other trends ...but plan to do so in the future just to satisfy my curiosity.

I think of my weight being an average of what I ate 5-15 days ago. (There’s absolutely no scientific basis for this, I just get frustrated at the lack of short term correlation. ) 👍

MMI - yea, I used my weekly average to look at trend.

I like that label: short term correlation. Good phrase to recognize. I'm like that. I did 'this' yesterday so I expect to see the effect 'today'. And we are just not like that, are we? Good reminder. Thank you.

I haven't been recording either. My excuse is I've been sick & haven't been eating normally, which is true. The only time I have chicken noodle soup & jello is when I'm sick🤢
