Captain's log, Stardate 1/14/13

I have been Intermittent fasting for about a month now and am really enjoying it. I have my eating window about 12-5pm with tons of leeway depending on what I run into day to day. I cook all my meals for the week and tupperware them up on Sunday's. So, I just microwave away come 12pm on Monday and I'm eating in 3 minutes. The hunger pangs haven't been really there at all since I've started.

I think you assume your going to feel ridiculously hungry when you start, but, for me anyway, it has never been an issue unless I start eating particularly late one day. Besides half the time I'm fasting I'm sleeping so I don't really notice it at all. Breaking my little fasts are enjoyable and the food (to me) tastes all that much better.

My only real concern is that since I have been doing this I find myself every so often loading up on unhealthy food that I just know is bad for me, but I still count calories, so I guess that is one saving grace. I am trying to keep my caloric intake to about 1600-1800 calories. I ball park it most of the time and so far the results speak for themselves. I'm 202 down from 220 or so a few months ago. I wasn't very rigorous with the scale like I should have been, but I can tell the last 10-15lbs came off during the fasting.

My gym days are no more since I have been having shoulder issues. I only play basketball and swim in the morning. I am thinking this has been a nice change of pace for my body and has given me a kickstart in weight loss. My muscle mass is down, but I have lost a disproportionate amount of fat so I am happy. I'll up my protein intake eventually and do some light lifting soon to compensate and get somewhat svelte.
